One method was lifting one end of the safe a few inches and dropping it. The thing popped open. Good to see something designed with serious thought put into it. Hopefully it becomes a trend.

I own a Stealth handgun safe. It's made from 10 gauge steel with a 7 gauge lid (weighs over 22 pounds). It is based upon the Fort Knox design and uses a Simplex mechanical lock with no other way of entry. It's a great safe, but costs around $300. I certainly wouldn't mind having one of these as well. Would like to see if a strong magnet could open. Or if you can pry off the electrical panel and short wires to piston.
@oasntet4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, or the spinning magnet trick that has worked on other electronic locks. But that operation sounded a bit like a solenoid, which, if chunky enough, shielded enough and grounded enough, probably would resist the spinning magnet.
@trottx4 жыл бұрын
I asked the same question about a magnet and was told to re-watch the video because I clearly missed it. I have watched it 2 more times and I don't think I missed anything. . On re-watch the panel around the buttons appears to be plastic but perhaps not. Maybe the implication is there is enough metal or shielding around the area where a solenoid would be (if it uses one) that a magnetic has no effect.

I watched another review of a "quality" small safe box. The vedios was a couple of years old and the box was in the $60 range. I was sold, and placed my order, even though the same box is now priced near $130. I was impressed by the fact that the CA DOJ approved this handgun safe. Then I happened to check out additional KZbin reviews of my "completely researched all proud of myself purchase." I came across one review that was of the very same safe that I purchased. He talked about the CA DOJ approval (I was like "Yeah! See how smart I am.") Then his video continued, and it shocked me. Apparently one of the tests to assess the reliability of these types of gun safes it to drop it from a height of about 4' onto a concrete surface. As soon as the guy did that, the safe popped open. My first thought was that a toy "Jack-in-the-box" would withstand a drop like that. It was then that I came to the conclusion "Man! I must be the dumbest SOB on Earth. I never gave that a thought of a drop test!" I immediately cancelled my order. Now, back on the hunt for a handgun safe, I have not seen any other videos, so far, that talk about the "drop test." That other gun safe was made in China. The reviewer talked about it swapping out parts on import that dramatically affected the quality of the safe's locking mechanism. I know reviewers are not going to run around and drop items like this one onto concrete surfaces, but is it realistic to think that these types of safes could fall the distance described and not pop open?
@stealthsafes95923 жыл бұрын
