It is amazing to observe how Prof. Winston uses all the elements he teaches in his OWN lectures. For example, story sequencing (arrangement of story) in every lecture is an art itself.

This is my favorite lecture in this class so far. Semantic nets are a great analog into the way we learn. Exploring meta-learning and meta-cognition, you'll find this lecture helps the listener more than any other lecture in the class, when this knowledge is applied to learning. 102 details left out: story telling correlates to spacial awareness. We remember details in time better than we remember details in space, due to how we evolved. We can convert details about things into details in time by learning how they were discovered, invented, constructed, or like how he does in class: seeing how it interacts with the world. (Imho how it was invented sheds the most light though and is worthwhile if you want to be an expert at a subject.)

The Strong-Story Hypothesis can be summarized as: Don't use references (pronouns and "former", "latter"), and Use Hashes (address the name). This also explains why Winston enjoys the idea that giving something a name and you have power over it. Because by giving it a name, you assigned it a hash key.

Not every map is a hash! Quit calling maps hashes, you can call them dictionaries, or maybe even tables, but don't call it a hash. Hashes are used for lots of things, not just maps. Its very confusing, especially if you are in an environment where hash functions are used for other things, or where implementation matters AND the implementation is not a hash. This confused me a lot for a while the first few times people used hash to mean map, and it occasionally still trips me up. And the irony of the context you used it in.

the big hole in theory of evolution is we analyse the hard skeleton only, maybe the soft part is the key of the evolution. For example the feeling. We never know how the Netherlands people feel. Do they feel the same way we do today?

It represents the volume (number) of words corresponding to each category.

This approach is too much like a tape recorder playing back prerecorded "knowledge". If you replace all the words with random names, you wouldn't be able to tell what they were talking about. What is text, a list of sentences, what are sentences, a list of words. You are just slicing up your black boxes into slightly smaller boxes.

eg. somehow we have better feelings when making love than Netherlands people. This encourages us to do much more frequently making love and give birth with much higher frequency. Thus, we appears on Earth abruptly. Dont you think so?
