What do you think is the most beneficial upgrade to get the xr150 over the 60mph speed. I love running around South Texas on mine but not being able to hit 70 on some of the back roads makes it kinda sketchy some days. I don't do much off road riding right now so the lack of low speed power doesn't worry me too much. Great looking build!
@TexasPrideCNCTexasPrideCNC2 ай бұрын
already did the exaust and air box mods and also gave it a little larger main jet. Runs pretty smooth just caps out at 60 unless down hill.
@DustySteel2 ай бұрын
@@TexasPrideCNCTexasPrideCNC thanks for watching and subscribing if that was you! I would say the head is the most limiting factor for top end speed. When I did just the 70mm big bore it was still limited to about 70 on flat. Once I put the big valve head on then I was able to go 78. I then put the 46t on the rear and could reach 82; 88 with the 18t and 46t. That’s all with the stock limiter. I’m very curious what a bigger head and carb with a stock setup would do.

Hey man! Badass bike! Was curious. What would be the first "best" step to do first for getting more power? I recently received one of these and hit about 400 miles on it. Would it be best to put on more mileage, or would it be okay to mod? Not looking for anything crazy, just enough for me to travel a little faster in longer distances :0
@DustySteel3 ай бұрын
@@bighg1017 thanks for watching and for the compliment! I wouldn’t wait because it would be fine for all part to wear in at similar times while everything is till new. I think really it just needs top end. If I were to try again I would buy a 34/29 BRT head and put a 30mm PWK and bigger header/exhaust. Then I would change the front to a 18t. That might be enough and if not then you could add a bigger piston. I started with the carb and 70mm piston and it just didn’t have a big enough head to flow that much air at the higher speeds. Still probably would’ve had enough power at that point to add the sprocket but I wanted it all to flow well and then be able to change gearing.
@DustySteel2 ай бұрын
To simplify the answer; more air flow in and out of the motor would be best. Most start with the airbox and exhaust mod.

@@Xr150hobbys being able to do 70mph is one thing; being able to do 70mph consistently while not being at the top of rpm’s is another thing. @adamloveshondas31223 ай бұрын
Being that close to the case is pretty risky especially at high speeds on the front sprocket if it slaps it be a pretty good case damage think I would go smaller and run a case saver nice build for real splitting cases is fun but long did a couple myself on Honda 300ex and Honda 250x so yeah case savers are nice but if your going in might as well stroke it and lighten the magneto and clutch basket 😁

@@DustySteel I actually got it back on. Just has to be lined up perfectly .That sprocket only have me about 2mph. More at the top. I'm hoping the Yoshi exhaust will help. The jet ,opening the air box and this sprocket got me from 55 to 57mph. I'm 210lbs . So probably bigger then who should be on this bike. But it does feel like it holds the speed better. Like even on inclines it will hold 55 when before 55 was max in best case scenarios

@@jjjfffppp I’m also about 210lbs. Even with just a big bore it only wanted to do like 70. The head really helped for top end speed. SXParts has their kits available again.
