The wide number of videios on stoves and accessories are nicely done and thorough with the pro and cons. Good job.

You and me both and I just got in 3 more to review. The 180 is up there as one of the best I've tried though for its size compared to cooking surface.

I have seen a few of your videos on some of these outdoor stoves and I like them very much. You have used both the Firebox stove and the 180 Tack Stove. Which one would you say is one you most likely recommend to a beginner? Currently right now, I am using a MSR Pocket Rocket. I'm wondering which would be better for me.
@livingsurvival10 жыл бұрын
180 tack is nicer for larger pots but they make a new smaller one now that is awesome. I have a newer video on the comparison. Firebox is also a great stove, hard to say which is best.

I've been modifying a sterno stove to use as a stick stove for a few years now because I wanted the larger cooking area that it provided over most stick stoves. The problem with it is the heat eventually weakens the metal as well as the tabs and hinges and it's a bit flimsy. I like the stable look of this stove in your review video and also the lack of hinges. How does this stove hold up over time?
@livingsurvival8 жыл бұрын
holds up great. well worth it and you can also place it directly into a fire for a place to hold pots/pans.
@geraldhenrickson74728 жыл бұрын
I believe the sterno stove is aluminum? Only certain grades of aluminum can withstand the heat of a wood fire for very long and most makers don't use it at all. Hope you can get a 180 stove or similar. They are terrific!

thanks. I believe you are right, and I hope so too, how long have you used yours?

Just the obvious question. Light weight stove but cast iron pot?. I noticed a titanium snow peak mug as well. Better test with a light weight pot for a realistic packers camp kit. Looked delicious though. Thanks for the review.

Interesting. I like Made in USA. I like sturdy. I think I like how easy it is to add fuel. Seems like it would work more efficiently, and potentially faster, if it had a raised, perforated floor? With the right floor, it would be even more rigid. The 180 is about $37 on Amazon, today. That's not crazy high.

My husband was a hunter, so we cooked with venison often. Now I occasionally make a pot of chilli, but I use beef or pork. I suppose a person could find bison meat if you new where to buy it. That would probably give it that wild meat flavour. My husband used to cringe when I used red wine in chilli. He said you're supposed to use beer. I guess he might have been right. I sort of feel guilty, now for not listening. That was a good review of that stove. I'll have to consider it if my Folding Firebox ever gets lost or stolen! 😉

How pointless is this stove....you could just find 2 steel "n" shaped brackets stick them in the ground and build a fire between them and they would hold that pot just fine.
@livingsurvival10 жыл бұрын
The purpose of the stove is for use in areas where you cannot build a fire such as on a rock when climbing or where fires are not permitted. I'd like to see your video of the n-shaped version. Upload one so I can make a pointless comment on yours.
@Crafter199210 жыл бұрын
Living Survival So..my first issue is it's so finicky putting it together while you hands are cold and maybe in survival situation if you're in stages of hypothermia would be next to impossible. Second problem is you still have to have fire starting tools and tinder and wood... Why not just buy and MSR pocket rocket and a 5 dollar gas cannister with a lighter....it weighs next to nothing it takes you a press of a button to light it. For me carrying this is like carrying bricks to build a fireplace in the woods...pointless.
@livingsurvival10 жыл бұрын
