I was just wondering when your next video was going to drop! Looking good! I, too, just finished a massive round-trip coast-to-coast drive and those sunrises and sunsets can be breathtaking. Especially in Texas and the desert Southwest. Your videos continue to make me wish I bought a RAV4 Hybrid before the prices went berserk and are still the reason I'm checking almost daily. My commute has not returned yet, so I don't need it. I just know my luck is eventually going to run out and my commute is going to return before I'm ready for it. Thanks for posting, glad to see another update.

Thanks for watching! I love the Rav4. I'm probably going to stick with this product line and upgrade every 4 or 5 years to a newer model as the tech improves. I wouldn't be surprised if the 2026 Rav4 has it's own autopilot. Anyway now that the major road trip project is out of the way I can return to regular easier to edit videos. I might do a few segments from that trip in real time. The rainstorm in Texas for example, or the heavily winding highway coming up out of eastern Oregon. Maybe the bit in New Mexico where the Comma2 had some kind of USB fault and I had to unplug it while driving.

Hey is this stock openpilot? I noticed in another video you mention slowing down on curves, did they every implement that?

It is Stock. I haven't tried any of the other forks yet. ...and no they haven't implemented slowing down for corners yet unfortunately. I would also like them to slow down for speed zone changes. The Toyota can recognize speed limit signs and displays them on the dashboard. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for the Comma to see that message and just the speed proportionally. Maybe someday.

Great video. Does the stress of driving fall dramatically while you’re using open pilot? I want to buy it but if I’m constantly worried about it messing up, I don’t want to buy it.

Yes! OpenPilot's motto is to "make driving chill". It's awesome. At first I was a little nervous letting go, but now it's second nature. I can truly relax. Even on this this trip with cruising speed set at 85mph.

Hello, I was wondering if openpilot affects the fuel economy of rav4 hybrid?
@MixMasterMinix2 жыл бұрын
Only as much as a regular cruise control would. I use OpenPilot almost all the time and I still get around 40 miles to the gallon. Sometime a little more sometimes a little less. On this particular trip to Texas though I was getting closer to 32 MPG. I had a big container strapped to the roof which affected my aerodynamics. (You can see it in the intro to the first of this 3 part series, Day1) I also think that speed plays a big factor, Idaho through Texas freeway speed limits are 80 MPH, so I was often going 90 MPH (140 KPH) or more. At those speeds it's hard to get good mileage.

Thanks for watching! It's been a bit since my last video. I just got my car back from the autobody shop. Somebody hit me in a parking lot. Insurance fixed it. I'm ready to get back out there. Stay tuned!
