I would leave one wall in one room vintage looking like with the pieces of plaster missing and maybe clear coat it to preserve it...it would look so cool to have a piece of history left in that beautiful house! 👍🏼

Hey Jared, The gap on the wood floor is for expansion during humid days! DO NOT fill in the crack or your floor will buckle because it has no room to swell. Use 1/4 round attached to the baseboard only to help cover the crack if it still shows after the baseboard install. Good Luck!

I got my new favorite shirt in the mail yesterday and wore it today. Great quality, looks and fit! Thanks Jared!!!! I think all your ideas on exposing the brick are spot on (aesthetically at least). The brick arches are neat. HUGE project but the old farm house is gonna be something really special.

As far as how it looks like inside, I mean red bricks, arches etc, it is your house and thrust yourself , The main thing is that you will be happy. Good luck. I love it so far and fully support all your choice.

I would expose the brick, but to put in a window through that brick wall would be expensive, because you would have to put in a lentil to hold the brick above the window. But it could be done. If you do, install lentil first and then use a partner saw/ cement saw to cut in the window. Good luck, and thanks for showing us your progress.

Pull the plaster, put cast iron gas burner stove with bread warmer in top, put the blue plastic sile plate insulation on wall up by joist, make template of ceiling joists ( like piano keyboard), then place cut wood in to make weather an finish look.then on white patch on back house I'd paint your shirt logo, an finish with (green an white lamp) light to wash it at nite.

For floor joists upstairs paint what you got.. buy 2 inch Foam Board cut with stiff sawzall blade.. paint it for instant gratification or rough cut drywall and caulk and paint..

yeah at least 1 exposed brick wall and period correct furniture thats always the hard part but gives the whole house its vibe its not just a building its a work of art. spent weeks trying to decide on a nice one of a kind mailbox post then came up with one now entire neighborhood copied mine still have to remodel the kitchen want to go with a 1800's wild west bar theme

Hey Jared, I'd say pull the plaster off that wall. A oven in front of brick is always a good look. If you don't like it, you can always replaster it back later. In the ceiling joists you could use some of that old lumber and cap/cover the brick in-between the joists and that would kinda finish it out. That would also let you foam any open holes in the brick and cover it up and give you a line to butt trim against or plaster up to without trim. Keep up the great work.

Fix your walls 1st. Going back to furring strips and sheetrocking maybe the answer. Either way finish the walls and rub jamb extensions on your door frames to flush then add your exterior trim and interior casing. Then baseboards last. Super rad project.

Keep chipping (literally!) at it! You do have your hands full but I’m sure you can get it done. I would concentrate on getting the building sealed up/weathertight before it gets too cold.

....I'd go for the two interior brick walls exposed...you could even replace the wooden trim bits (I forget what they're called) that covers the brick going through the doorway with some 1/4" plate...get it formed for the arch and cut...heat it right up and then oil bath it.....then on the one brick wall that has the two doors, in between the doors maybe a cool wood booth with an old industrial light (old green enamel shade)...and a woodstove that can double as a bit of a cooker...you could cover that big white patch on the back of the house with a big wood storage rack (would look best if you happen to put a porch/veranda on the back...could even build a cool outdoor BBQ/kitchen along the back wall of the house (I did that here and during the summer the stove in the house hardly gets used)...

If it was me I'd take down all the plaster and lath then acid wash the brick and then seal the brick walls.. be really cool looking having those old red bricks as walls with some of the old growth wood floors and trim
@bendaves77

I wouldn't take the chance in media blasting any of that brick.. muratic acid wash it.. use a bristle brush and you'll be surprised how great it will look.. acid takes concrete off brick homes such as splatter when pouring a new driveway etc

I say chip that off and make that an "accent wall". Cheesy to say, but it would look very nice right there. The kitchen idea is a good one. Be nice to keep the wood heat in some way shape or form. Would hate to run ducting if you were to use an Outdoor water heater (wood). but It could also heat the garage!

@@jfrost77hd It's fake stone that's flat on one side. It's put up with adhesive then you put chink (a sand- caulk mixture)around it. You can google it. It comes in different kinds of stone. In door or outdoor. Your building has real potential. You can't tell this stuff from real stone.
