I was born in the San Fernando Valley in the mid-50s. Chris & Herb remind me so much of my dad and the music he would play with his buddies. There were many weekends of beers and Country/Bluegrass tunes. He put a guitar in my hands when I was about 6 or 7 and taught me some chords. Early in the festivities, before bedtime, I would get to play along and sometimes sing a little harmony. Good times. Thanks for the memories, Leland.

One of my favorite CD’S is with Chris and Herb and many others you have mentioned. “At Edward’s Barn”. It covers old and new materials. A live recording and is a joy to listen to. (PS- I was born and raised in Upland. Retired and moved to So Oregon. A bassist for 30 + yrs and at 74 still playing. Mostly Worship Music at church. Last item. We have 2 Basset hounds; Lucy is 9, Harlie is almost 8). Blessings my friend - keep playing! ). Bob

You know these couple of days of Chris Hillman stuff got me thinking. Stephen Stills Manassas first album and the first Souther Hillman Furay band album were 100% gems then came their sophomore jinx albums. They weren't bad but they weren't up to the first efforts. I saw an interview with Ritchie Furay where they asked him what happened on the second SHF album. He said his marriage was falling apart and it showed in his work.
