My name is Lucy, I'm a Dutchwoman here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies, tv shows or history and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I really enjoy diving into history to find out how women went about their beauty and dressing rituals in days past. Vintage and history-themed videos are my little passion project.
You'll find a bit of lifestyle content here as well, ranging from cozy chats over a cup of tea (my beloved Tea Time videos) to personal vlogs and home & interior videos.
Enjoy browsing!
Love,
Lucy

actually I believe that late 18th century was not that insane . Court hair clearly was something and everyday hair was quite voluminous but not as much as everyone thinks

I know that lots of people find 1830s fashion butt ugly, and I can understand why; but something about it just awakens my inner 3 yr old girl and I literally adore everything about it. The ridiculous sleeves, never-ending frills, gigantic bonnets and little ringlets. Idk, something a bit it just....makes my day.

I love these kinds of videos. Even though I doubt I am ever going to style my own hair like that. Thanks for making this video. I dont think 1830s hair tutorial has been made that many times if ever before. PS : I doubt you can go anymore high than you already have with your hair height.

I did a smaller scale apollo knot (that definitive 1830s hairstyle) without any extensions or false hair. If it was longer I probably could have done the full thing. I genuinely wonder how many women at the time actually used extensive hair pieces and how many just used their natural hair on supports. I know in Les Misérables there's a mention of Cosette making a point to not look in the mirror, even when putting her hair up, and Victor Hugo says something about how ladies "fit their hair on a crinoline those days" or something to that effect

also, making the hairpieces out of a stretchy fabric (preferably 4-way) over a millinery wire frame allows it to be light, sturdy when stretched, and easy to sew through!

While it is arguable for the front curls to be possibly more Regency in looks, I might've rolled the nape hair into a chignon and - working up to - incorporated the knot while coming to the crown. There's a bit of an imbalance between the knot and the volume of the framing curls. Still, a very goid attempt on a rarely covered topic 👍
