Australias version of the 396 Chev... In A Vauxhall,/ Torana. what about the Aussie 4 speed or the opal 4 speed, OMG... If you had a speco shifter on a 3 speed you were the talk of the town.

If I remember correctly the H Q had a 202 not the 186 this looks like the 186 s with twin carbs out of the hot manaro

You are going to have problems without a breathable oil filler cap.

These and the Chev 6 engines don't have breathable caps. They have positive crankcase ventilation systems.

Those flat oil filler caps are only used on rocker covers with 2 round holes on top,with the flat breather cap I guarantee the sump will eventually suck in & hit the crank. Early motors had a breather cap with walking stick where the PCV should be, then they went to breather cap with PCV, then the 202 went to flat breather cap with PCV & breather from middle of rocker cover to air cleaner. What happens when you suck on say a plastic coke bottle it starts to collapse & that’s what this is going to do.

Out of interest, what's the cap off? I sold this motor and put in a 173 with std carb and dizzy, to take it back to original.
