I dont know if the time frames would line up but in July at Skirmish in PA is a scenario game that gets about 4500 players. That would be a great place to get exposure for this new format! They have plenty of space to set up a couple fields. When the tour starts will there be any sort of webcast to be able to watch this?

I think a good model to look to is how competitive Quake is played... You have the Duel game mode that promotes individual players along side Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch game modes that showcase team dynamics with 5 players on each team. Players are ranked based on the Elo rating system. One thing I think that would help fields adopt this is having the 1v1 boundary dimensions be some fraction of the 5v5 dimensions, either 1/2 or 1/4 would probably be ideal.

I wonder if NXL (or MLPB) sanctioned or sponsored fields would be a good idea. If fields had a level of guidance or standards to follow for everything from reffing to gameplay then they may be able to nurture a better player and spectator understanding of the game at a local level. I feel like, even if you have solid teams around a field, there still isn't a very digestible understanding of what kind of a path is possible unless you have a big in with said teams.

ollie is so right a huge problem with paintball is there isnt enough money for the players at the top level and then at the lower levels its so expensive and really no money to be won

Yeah everyone I know who tried to do tourneys and get things going all went pretty broke in the process and don't have much to show for it after they turn 35. They still play and have good memories, but the ones who parted ways and got trade careers or finished college all still play, too, but we have families and money in the bank. Kinda sad. Not saying it happens this way for everyone, but your main point is correct

Call the trump card a "walk" like in baseball. Same concept as when a dangerous hitter is purposefully walked. Only issue I see with joust is that you might only play one quick point every once in a while and spend alot of time just watching.
