An 1896 recording on Emile Berliner's Gramophone advertising Dr. Plant's Baking Powder, as spoken by George Graham, done in the style of an old-time street peddler.

I love how at the end he seems to have run out of script to read but still has 30-40 seconds on the ad so just starts waffling and repeating stuff

Drinking game idea: Take a drink every time he says the word "powder". (Be wary, you may experience alcohol poisoning or even choke!)

I haven't found any mention of this "Dr. Plant's cream of tartar baking powder" Outside of this record, which also is not mentioned anywhere.

Wow. This is probably one of the oldest commercials ever recorded.

Wonder if this was intended for playing in a large store. Quite alarming what harmful substances food could be adulterated with back then. A real glimpse into social history.
