18x36' Pool Filtration Schedule

From www.swimmingpo... - This video shows an example of a variable speed swimming pool pump schedule for a 18'x36' pool with a water volume of just under 22,000 gallons. The pool pump is wired for 120 volts and the plumbing system is 1.5" PVC. The filtration goal is three times the volume of the swimming pool for 95% of the total pool water being filtered. The numbers used in this video are unique to this system and are an example only, as the numbers for your pool will be different and unique to your plumbing system.

People always struggle with the units... the 14.2 is also kWh and not kW which is why when you multiply it by $0.13/kWh the kWh units cancel out and your left with $

If the builder proposed using 1-1/2” pipe on my 22,000 gallon pool I’d find a different designer

While true, I don't think you would have to look very far to find actual pools that are like this, or worse. Most of the pools 20+ years and older are all 1.5" pipes.

Hey i have a 16*30 8 ft on the deep 4 on the shallow it currently has a 1hp hayward single speed and a hayward de3620 filter im looking into buying a variable speed but dont know what to go with can you please help pool only has one return jet as well

So, we just bought a house with a 18 x 36 oval pool (roughly 23k gallon). They used 1.5" piping with 2" at the pad. We have 3 incoming pipes (vacuum port, main drain, skimmer) with the MD and skimmer always open. My question is, our sand filter's multiport valve has a max rating of 60GPM so would we not want to exceed that or is it okay for that 4 hour interval? I imagine it would be fine short term but may be increased resistance and therefore not be as efficient but I wanted to see what your thoughts would be. We currently have a 1.5hp single speed that we're having to run at least 18 hours/day for filtration but we were recently upsold a 3hp VSP (probably overpowered for only having 1.5" piping + sand filter) not yet installed. I do wish I found your videos sooner but they are helping a lot, thank you.

Hi, not to do with this, but asked in March 4 video, is it possible to patch a 3 ft tear in a vinyl pool. Limited income so repair would be best. The vinyl I find is a bit thinner but will be doing boyh sides.

anything over an inch or two large for a rip is unlikely to last. Especially if under water level. There are companies that specialize in mobile vinyl welding, but that is probably price prohibitive. So from a professional perspective, no, that will not work. But it sounds like also you don't have much to lose. Good luck
