[19-A] Repair Alesis DM10 Drum Pad with Low Output and Low Sensitivity

One of my Alesis DM10 Drum Pad started becoming less sensitive, resulting in a lower output from that one drum pad. After swapping cords and inputs on the DM10, I concluded that the problem was inside the drum pad. This video walks through the process of trying to figure out the problem and come up with a solution.

I started watching this since I have the same issue and as soon as you said “sensitivity knob” I was like Duh. I bought one crimson pad extra and forgot it had that knob! Lol. Thanks!

FYI, piezos cost next to nothing (about 10 for £5 in Britain from eBay/Amazon). It's super common for them to fail and it's a 50p/50c repair.

The "Sensitivity" pot is actually a balance control between the center and side piezos. So if it's at "max" then either the center or the side is maxed out and the other minimized.

What size piezo sensor did you get for your Tom

hi i have a similar issue. My tom1 jus has a dead zone in the upper left side. the other quarters work fine. I removed the cap, and it's everything working fine with my fingers, all 4 inner squares. Basically it's working but there is a dead zone. i tried to tight the mesh pads, but no effect. ideas?

Yes theres something wrong. Can't hear my rolls on my first Tom. I don't have the sensitivity knob on the side

I have the same with my crimson mesh kit from alesis , my snare triggers the snare rim and the snare itself at the same time hopefully this video fixes it

@@OhioFrontier1 no i just cut part of the wires from the piezos and put bud connectors with solder and heated it up, it works a little better but it still does it sometimes, i think i need to solder where the cables connect to on the circuit board it might be a lose connection, u can try that too, i checked mine and i saw a bit that looked like a lose connection ill see if that works

The alesis drums are overpriced garbage. I switched to Roland and will never touch another Alesis product.
