The skinning speed trick is not a game mechanic with a horse. It is what happens when you are unable to perform the animation fully because of the placement making it hard to do. (Example: The animal is on a awkward placement on a rock. There is no way for you to do the normal way. The game recognizes this and just skips.) You see how the horse is so close over the beast? It is that type of situation it would do this. If you spend time to observe the system I suspect you can figure out ways to exploit this beyond using the horse. The purpose is to help prevent a malfunction, glitch, or error to occur when you skin.

Recently I was in a steep hill with lots of trees and tried to jump off my horse in an uphill direction, and accidentally ended up smacking Arthur into a tree, causing him to fall and OH SO PERFECTLY just land back on the horse with all the style and grace and finess of a drunk man fallimg down the stairs, landing on rollerskates and flying out the front door lol it made me so happy. This game engine legit seems to gave a contingency animation/mechanic for any unique play style or goof up

The steal NPCs Hunt happened to me once. Though I didn’t know you could take it without him fighting back so I killed him. And I found out the second one because I think I jumped off the Valentine Gunsmith and landed on my horse. And 1:08 wasn’t a fast spinning animation. It’s the normal skinning animation for alligators. The washing face animation is also used in GTAV if I’m correct. And it’s so cool that Rockstar tHoUgHt about little kids in this game. 3:10 The Carnivore Birds always happen to me when I’m looting a large amount of people. I knew about the kick NPC feature for a long time but haven’t tried it out yet. I’ve known about the Direction Dodge. I just never use it in combat because I use Dead Eye.

While fast skinning an animal is cool to save a bit of time there is a high risk of damaging the animal's pelt rating so if you're trying for a perfect pelt you might be better letting the horse hang back and taking the extra time. Just a heads-up for anyone coming across this now.

No you press y or triangle just like you do to choke them when you tackle them on land. It just says drown instead of choke. Why would they map it to the analog stick? That makes no sense Lol

Thanks for that skinning tip. Reminds me of RDR1 skinning glitch/ tip. Stand on top of the animal and you skip the animation all together.

For number 15, it’s better to press it consistently than having it held down. 10-15 seconds worked best for me, because it doesn’t work if you just spam, and it slows you down anyways. Also only works for horse bonding 2 or above.

Yup I believe the exact is like every 20 seconds but yea better to just press periodically than hold it and I think it an intentional mechanic
