I honestly feel like her hate on maybe 2-3 artists was unjustified, but the rest was a perfectly valid opinion. From what I've seen so far I'm starting to believe that the reason why people hate her music is either because it doesn't have much of an eppy/happy go lucky dub step or beat like David Guetta and Selena Gomez or that the lyrics aren't as crude or "simple" for example, "You a stupid hoe", "Baby, baby, baby oh", etc, etc. Basically this is just telling me that it's simplicity for the win, not the good poetic intentions that explains stories, problems, etc. Please keep in mind that my opinion is only ment for specific people, not everybody.

Shes not saying that talking about those things is wrong, its about how. If you make it seem okay to be in a toxic relationship (how it can accidentally come off some times) it can confuse young girls and cause issues. Its not that her music is bad, its that it can be confusing for young women- ESPECIALLY ones who are learning about healthy or not healthy relationships solely from her music. And the reason Lana outsells is because 1) shes an icon thats been around for a while 2) Lorde wrote Pure Heroine (which undoubtedly changed pop music with the featured track Royals) at 16 YEARS OLD. then took a couple year hiatus- something UNHEARD OF in the music industry for beginning musicians and CRAFTED her sophomore album, Melodrama. This album was the best album ever crafted, all together it tells a beautiful story through songs that can stand alone and stand out. Her music can be related to by everyone and is for everyone. She expresses her relationship trials and tribulations without confusing young women on what is and isn’t okay. She doesnt sell out, which is why she doesn’t sell out.

Though Lorde's insults held some truth to them (with a smudge of humor), I find that her commentary was both rude and judgeful. I'm not saying she should "go back to New Zealand" or that she is a "ugly cunt". She has her own opinion, just like you and I, to say whatever she likes; but she should AT LEAST watch what she says, for example: David Guetta- "No. F*ck no. It is about two people, not necessarily a boy or a girl (could be sisters, or good friends), that made each other feel happy and eccentric. However this certain person isn't in Lana's life anymore (possibly through death) and thinking about this said person, makes her sad; hence the title. But she says, "even if your gone, I'm gonna drive" A.K.A. She'll move on, but always honor their time together. As for the "kiss me hard before you go" it could be on the cheek or the forehead, if not in a romantic partnership. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis- The fact that Macklemore ends and begins with Thrift Shop, is a personal choice. Thrift Shop is one out of their 2-3 hits, and to begin AND end their performance with it, is to possibly leave the audience with something familiar and upbeat.

The problem with this isn't that she is insulting these people; I mean, we do it in our everyday lives. When was the last time you went online and saw it completely free of mean comments? Never. And most of what she is saying really makes sense. She isn't just saying "I hate these people for now reason". She is stating her opinion on music and feminism and morals, and that is completely okay. The problem is that she is a new artist. She doesn't quite have her filter yet. And that's okay. People get that. Honestly, most of the people in the comments are taking it way worse than any of those celebrities. She isn't really hating on them, she has a musical opinion, which we all have a right to. Plus, all of these celebrities are so used to smack, that this is nothing. I don't think it's worth everyone fussing about.

Though she was correct in most of these instances, it doesn't change the fact that she's a spooky little girl with a voice and stage presence that is tragically underwhelming live, and she needs as much help in the autotune department as the people she is putting down. As much as she tries to put herself above the stars she's bashing, the truth is that many of them are (albeit undeserving) pop culture icons, while she seems to be a fad with a handful of hits that all sound the same, and we'll have forgotten about her in 3-5 years time. Maybe it's because she's so young, but she reminds of that outsider kid we all knew in high school who tried super hard to be edgy as she talked shit about the "popular kids", yet as soon as they give her the time of day, she swoons. Hence her friendship with Taylor Swift. She spent time dissing her, apologizing, backtracking on the apology when in front of the right audience...all the while still hanging out with Taylor Swift. People look up to her because she's "real" and not afraid to speak her mind, but she just seems like a typical teenager who is completely full of it and of herself.
