45 years ago. I still remember where I was was when I got the news that the plane went down. Rest in peace, boys. You will never be forgotten.

My heart breaks every day remembering. He was my friend and somewhere I can't see, he still is. He was like that with that all knowing wink of his. When I hear this my ❤️ heart breaks twice that day. You were a good man with a large purpose in your life when our Creator called you home. You still live on in many hearts. As it should be..

Saw these guys at HSB with Booker T. three years ago. This tune was sublime; saw Skynyrd about three months before the crash had not really thought about it for 30 years, these guys opened it up. I am sorry, but Skynyrd could not touch the music coming out of Alabama these days. These guys, and Isbell, are so far beyond that . . .

youve GOT to be kidding me...what an assinine thing to say ...especially here, under this song..... they wrote a GREAT song...they are trying REAL hard....and i love a LOT of their music, but they cant fucking PLAY.....they are always out of key and half assed on the live shows, and THIS is no exception. Isbell was their best musician, and he left over that shit, among other things..... Patterson is tone deaf, and Cooley's harmonica here ends with a real stinker..... and when they started playing harmony leads at the end i could not take any more. If you are talking about Johnny's tribute band, yeah sure they suck..... but the guys who they are singing about HERE......no fuckin way.

Ed White you know Ed, you’re right. I wrote that comment seven years ago, back when I drank too much. I don’t share your view of DBT at all, but Skynyrd was an outrageously good band. I can’t believe I wrote that; of course I can’t believe I did a lot of the shit that I did back then. Not asinine, just kinda sad. Hope you’re in good health and stay that way. And this set was insanely great.

@@rizdog2 donnt get me wrong- i love these guys, and ive been preaching them to Skynyrd fans since 2003.....a LOT....and i read a comment years ago where some guy said Patterson couldnt even TUNE his guitar, and it pissed me off.....but as i began to see the live clips come up on KZbin, i was hearing a LOT of bad notes, and i realized that the stuff i was SO crazy about from these guys had more to do with the record producer and engineer than what they actually played....so those guys should get the credit they deserve....i KNEW that Patterson wasnt terribly concerned with the technical aspects of being a good musician...and it really doesnt matter how well you play if you cant write a song....the writing is whats important.....and for about 7 years they were hitting them out of the park....and then they got political ...and thats not a good thing to do because its a dead end....they inspired me to embrace my southern roots, and to write songs....and it was great....ive been following them since the early 90's when they were Adam's Housecat....lol...Southern Rock Opera seemed like it was written about MY life, and my High School parking lot....so it LIT me UP.....i would even give them the benefit of the doubt HERE and say that they were GOING for that cacaphony sound to simulate the chaos of the plane wreck, except ive heard them do too many bad live versions of GREAT songs....thanks for responding in such a decent manner....you are a gentleman....a southern one too i assume....i hope i wasnt too much of a jerk....

Ed White No worries Ed. At all. Being passionate about art is never a bad thing. And no, I am not from the South. But to be called a gentleman by someone who is, is an honor. So you take good care, sir.
