I have three store bought warded locks (I bought for practice). Two of them warded keys will not work on. One lock is over sized (the skeleton warded key doesn't even touch the in sides of the lock). The othet lock is so tight the warded keys bend, I've used warded by-pass keys from three separate companies with similar results, even the key it came with takes a lot of "umpf" to get to work.

First off first time coming across you, the channel isn’t bad, but some clarification should be stated. There is only a small distinction between the bogata picks made by Southord and Sparrows. The curve it the bottom is not sharp but they are both fairly decent styles the BPXS-12 also known as their Pagoda set has a little more in common with the Multipick set, the Sparrows has a laser cut look too them but they are fairly equal considering the Southord Pagoda set has the sandwiched handles. That should be noted and observed and picks only break when used heavy handed, I started with Southord first and took care of them mine are still whole. Have recently added Sparrows within the last 3 months. The BPXS-12 also contains a unique looking rake that is similar to the Sparrows quick strike Rake that is exclusively in the Sparrows Dark Shift Expansion set. It’s also similar to the Scarab Picks they make. Also I have a set of the Chinese brand warded picks they are equal to the Southord and Sparrows brand. KLOM also makes a set of warded picks in a set of 20-30 with the wards in different places. Found on Banggood if I’m not mistaken. So far I’ve found many of your videos to be very much like ones created by other channels years earlier, the information is still the same just spoken by another person. Your latest giveaway to reach 100 subscribers the James Bond credit card- I would hope your aware that it has some of the worst reviews, the metal quality very poor, the tension wrench is eh fair but up for debate. The zed wrench you call your go to is an accurate statement it’s also commonly made by KLOM that has a music wire texture and the feed back is very responsive that’s also true. I like your honesty regarding that. If you’d care to have a look at my channel you’ll see a few things that internet you, your knowledge on the buck keys is also accurate too, but some work better with the castration band others like Masterlock with an M1 style keyway a few hits with a bump hammer and turn and open the disc padlocks are another that open with a tap or two. So far I see my myself subscribing due to your straight forward knowledge even if already been said by others before.

Yeah, to be fair I have been figuring out the layout, I don't normally use a script or anything on the videos. I will work on clarifying better, you may notice I even state obvious points as others have asked similar questions. For the SouthOrd picks I honestly only have owned 2 sets of their standard pick kits, 3 of their picks broke with moderate use, it kind of turned me away from them, however they do make some great products. I didn't mean for it to sound like they were bad, but it's all my opinion of course. Some of my subscribers have told me the same about Sparrows lol As a locksmith the Sparrows picks are what I ended up going with as picking a lock in the field vs new out of the box are 2 different worlds, corroded locks and locks someone else has tried to pick with random objects and gunked up can make you have to be harder on the picks. I like many brands for many reasons, just for my field kit I have taken to Sparrows the last few years. Also, their customer service has been amazing. Somehow Sparrows for me has bent but not broken in many cases, Sparrows price also is favorable and the impression they've given me personally has been great. I do own the SouthOrd JackKnife and its a solid tool. Again I don't hate on them, I try and walk to line between worlds of Locksmith and LockSport with the channel haha I am working on more clarity in my videos tho, the channel was originally made to show a couple guys how to do some quick rekeys and it gained traction seemingly overnight. So, I am working out the kinks as a broader channel. I do appreciate the constructive criticism, it all helps me make the channel better! - Kilo

@@LockandKilo Yes for anything gunked up some people would say graphite or hit it with some WD-40 but never both at the same time. I appreciate your response and your details, so far I’ve seen a decent collection likely comparable to mine, you have taste and class I respect that also the flat top of the keyway tensions are definitely not Sparrows brand, possibly Peterson. The soda can shim use accurate, I’ve found by making well I’d say about 100 out of a soda can and you can keep them from bending by putting them in a common pill bottle with the twist top, I made close to 100 from a single Pepsi can and thought about what to store them in, had an empty pill bottle and shoved them in and they’ve stayed perfectly fine. So that’s a tip for the field if you want to carry the soda can shims they will not bend or break in the bottle and you can slip the bottle in a shirt pocket or pants pocket. You improvise quite well with your pouch, I’ve used a small red zip up first aid bag, another bag I just bought from Rural King on the 1st of the month put my Ranger sets in there along with a set of HUK Tubular pick, and plastic shims and a few other items like my KLOM pick set 30 pc it’s a good all in one a few medium size bags that don’t stand out make a big difference. I even have a plastic box that was made for arrow heads that’s full of 150 bump keys and Lock Buster keys. I’ve pretty much finished buying pin tumbler picks but still have my eyes out for a few odds and ends. You are right about Southord foam looking handles for the southord picks slide up, I considered buying some before but decided against them. But still looking at the brass looking handle sold by them that has the 2 locking grub screws and a Allen wrench included it’s $14 on Southord so worth looking at or you could pick up the PSX-17 that has it in it and you could slide any flat pack pick in it any brand too something to consider. I don’t know how many exact sets you own so if you are going to do a bit of light locksport be sure to keep a few ideas in mind, plastic bottle shims are useful too.

@@BelmontClan Yeah, I recently went to a lockout and as I started picking the lock on a cheap Kwikset about 20 small red ants crawled out of the keyway... it was so bad. Cobwebs and everything in this lock... tons of pocket lint, it smelled of WD-40 haha Yeah, I have been asked about doing more Picking videos by the LockSport subscribers, I am not nearly on some of these guys level on YT, my goal was to try and film real world lockouts to show people the other side of being in the elements, common problems, angles etc.. The TOK tools from my Tension video are actually from Sparrows, I forget which set they came in, I haven't ordered them from anyone else. I purchased those maybe 4 years ago now. I try and keep stocked up on shims as they are useful in 1,000 ways haha but that is a great idea! Also, as for my pick kit, I used to pack that thing full of more picks, bump keys, hud keys, pick keys etc.. but, at night it became annoying to sift through, made the kit bulky and I didn't like it. So, I made a separate kit for all of those things. Many asked why my kit looked so light compared to others. My way of looking at this channel was from the mindset of someone new to this world and progressively make more advanced videos. I just didn't want to skip too far ahead or overload anyone learning. Over the years I have trained apprentices I learned that less is more sometimes, so I took an approach on this channel letting my hands do some of the talking as most apprentices tend to be more visual learners. - Kilo

@@LockandKiloMust have been before they changed them to the knurled 5 and heavy bars. That and they were all curved, yea definitely keep it small and let it slowly pick up a following. The big channels have their secret handshakes so to speak and whom they give their allegiance to. The KZbin locksport community can be well a battleground everyone wanting their little shot at taste of the spotlight through the use of others. It’s a bit overly dramatic because they soon form their own clicks. I’ve been on for 3 years and have become well hated by the big ones, I tend to piss off the major channels because I have them figured out. I’ve watched new channels pop up but when they run out of ideas they grow stagnant their videos become less frequent soon months pass and nothing to show from it, it’s fickle. They flew too high too fast and like Icarus and the wax on the wings the wax melted, feathers fell and down they fell, I told others before it’s a marathon not a sprint, they didn’t understand and I’m still around after the dust settled. I look forward to seeing more content, a word of caution if you will, giveaways will attract everyone looking for a handout even if they are fully stocked. Sure it will bring in subscribers for a while, gets you a few well wishers, but in the long run the ones showing up for just the giveaways are nothing more than leeches so be careful. You can have the best gear and somewhere along the line someone will try and con you into doing a giveaway for it even when they can buy it for themselves, when your not keen to give it they act like shit heads and try to cause trouble. Good Luck Kilo, from where do you hail and how long have you been a locksmith and how old are you?

@@BelmontClan Yeah, I had a few subscribers in the LockSport community ask to donate to help get the channel a boost, so the giveaways have been my thank you to them and all of the support. I haven't dabbled too deep into the LockSport side of YT, tho I do know of the more popular pickers and they are insanely talented. I don't know them personally, as a locksmith I noticed some in the Lock Sport community initially don't pay me much attention, which is why I try and show them I have no ego, just being helpful. I'm from California, been a Locksmith going on my 7th year. I am 29. When I got started there was very little info to help me going into my apprenticeship. A lot of Lock Sport videos, but not a lot of Locksmith how-to's.That is the intention of this channel along with some picking videos here and there to show love for the other side! While this is my career, I love the world of locks and challenge and puzzle aspect of them. So, even if this channel inspires one person to join in as a hobby or become a Locksmith I feel good! Even if it helps someone with a DIY project, I feel the same way. - Kilo
