Not only Hylians and Sheikahs, all races uses the UMii system, but only Hylians and Sheikah parts are based on regular Miis, but all races use the system to create minor NPCs (Major characters like Zelda or Impa have special models instead).
@angelo8606 Жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that? The other races have a more limited number of models that they reuse for different characters with minor changes.
@Mari_Izu Жыл бұрын
@@angelo8606 Yes, and these minor changes are different parts used by the system, it just has less variations.
@deepmind5318 Жыл бұрын
I always wondered why most games re use the same character models too often or have very limited character models. This can be seen even in some of the best games like resident evil 4 (original), where the mobs use the same exact models all the time. I thought a UMii like system existed for all games, but i guess not.
@Mari_Izu Жыл бұрын
@@deepmind5318 Nah, cases like RE4 they just make a number of full models and reuse as needed. There's no need to make something like UMiis in a game where there's a lot of mobs to deal with, in some places where you have to fight hordes. A system like UMii is extremly rare actually and usually only present in some RPGs, specially ones with character creation as they can just repurpose it to create the NPCs.
@quinnmarchese6313 Жыл бұрын
@@deepmind5318 if devs create a character builder for the player to use, its likely that they used some version of it to build all the NPCs. the benefits are myriad with skeletal systems and animations being more easily adaptable for every model, it saves time, and it creates a visual unity for the game as a whole. you can look at any humanoid skyrim npc for example and recreate them with the given character creator. in most other cases, models are "hand"drawn and reused as needed. as ghenetto says, its rather rare for a dev to make a UMii like system in a game where they're not letting the player make their own character, as thats basically the main use case for it.

Shield surfing may also be a reference to Legolas in The Two Towers. (The movie adaptation, not the book.) If I remember correctly, there was a surfing shield found in the files of Twilight Princess, the first 3D Zelda that came out after that movie. There is also a horse mounting animation when Link and the horse are running towards each other that also looks suspiciously like when Legolas does the same thing in one of the movies.
@ExaltedUriel Жыл бұрын
@@israelsettles8235 This certainly isn't definitive, but I always got the impression that the aesthetic and general tone of Twilight Princess, besides obviously being a serious overcorrection due to the initial backlash Wind Waker got on release, was based at least somewhat off the Peter Jackson LotR films.

Some facts that I found (Mostly related to Thyphlo Ruins): - Everyone knows that Luminous Stones glow in the dark, especially in Thyphlo Ruins. But did you know that all gemstones are visible to the eye in Thyphlo Ruins as well? They don’t glow, but they are totally visible, even Flint. - Just like with the Dark Link outfit, Link never blinks and his eyes glow in the dark with the Fierce Deity outfit. - The torches in Thyphlo Ruins actually help you find your way to the pedestal and the Hinox with the orb. Each torch points in the direction of another torch (even the ones on the entrance bridge, probably a hint to tell the player to follow the torches). Kinda like the first half of the traversing Lost Woods. - Another easy light source is drawing a bow with an elemental arrow. - You can use Octo Balloons and Revali’s Gale on a floating Master Mode platform to raise it high into the sky, and they won’t go back down. - Monolithsoft helped with the development of this game, but did you know there are 2 NPCs named Rex and Pyra? Rex is at South Akkala Stable and Pyra is at the Noble Canteen in Gerudo Town.

@user-be3qc7re9o Жыл бұрын
I mean, Elden Ring is pretty much an extension/improvement upon the already established Soulsbourne Formula. Breath of the Wild had to basically start over from scratch with a brand new foundation for Zelda as a franchise.
@PigDaddy2020 Жыл бұрын
Have to disagree here. To me, Elden Ring was what I wished BOTW could have been, had ER also included certain Zelda elements in its design. Think ER having the interactive world design & dynamic physics engine of BOTW (which were by far the most impressive attributes of the game to me), along with legacy dungeons that also had Zelda style puzzle design within them. Imagine BOTW having the enemy & boss variety of ER. Finally imagine receiving actual good rewards for exploration like completely unique weapons, armor sets, spells, summons, etc..., instead of just always finding arrows, rupees & similar weapons in the majority of chests! I mean c'mon - at least in previous Zelda titles, you could find heart container pieces, magic spells, skulltulas, magic beans, bottles and more, which were all more satisfying than any reward BOTW has, (again, IMO). Of course, my ideal Zelda Ring fusion game wouldn't have the punishing difficulty focus of Soulsborne titles, nor require being so obscure with story, but I would still like to see Zelda games be a little more difficult throughout the entire adventure, unlike BOTW starting out pretty difficult & ending up being a total cakewalk once Link had upgraded himself to a certain point. Just my personal opinion to suit my own tastes, of course, & to each their own!
@c0smo70 Жыл бұрын
@@PigDaddy2020 I totally agree with you! Elden Ring is (in my opinion) much better than BotW on a general level, but I think the two things that BotW does better is game design (especially sound) and mechanics. I hope TotK does some of the things you said and increases the difficulty. Having an actually good megasize boss in Zelda would be great. If Nintendo were smart and took notes we’re gonna see better bosses and enemy variety in TotK.
