Hello Justin, I am 71 now. 6 years ago, after a serious illness, I started to learn the guitar. 4 years ago I could start the first tender attempts as a rhythm guitarist in an old sock band. Until today the band has changed a lot, we play only acoustic. And in the meantime I also sing. We cover songs from rock, folk, blues, pop. Two or three gigs a year have been added. I owe all this to you and other well-known KZbin teachers. This video about the slash chords is again something very fundamental and brings me further again. Many thanks for this without such help I would never have come so far, because regular guitar lessons I can not afford as a poor swallower.

Loved reading your comment and not only was it lovely but inspiring. Especially for someone like myself that tends to be afraid of my own shadow at times, yet about to release an album and playing venues soon. That’s awesome, brethren! Keep at it.
24 years in guitar and I learned something from this. Great stuff.

OMG! I've played a lot of those Chords while playing songs while hearing them and did not think about it. Same time I read those things like C/E and did not know what to do and what that means. Now it all comes together and it makes all sense. Thank you so much for cure me from blindness. Now I've reached next level ;-)

I know people like updated video quality and everything but I miss advancing through your course levels, it helped keep me practicing and interested for a long time.

Bruce Cockburn plays a tune called "Man Of A Thousand Faces". Key of C, 2nd chord is D/G. Gorgeous chord and if you are up for a challenge replace the D/G with a Gmaj9. Even Better though hard to play. It's basically the 3 high notes of a D and the 2 low notes of a G. Another way to explain it is the D/G with a finger added to the 2nd fret 5th string.

Slash chords are so common on ukulele (due to the limited bass notes available without barres on 4 strings) that they're often not even noted as such. E.g. what you typically see noted as a C chord is really a C/G.

If you need to, sometimes you can work around it with a key change. Lots of songs use C, F, G, and Am, which you can play as G, C, D, and Em with capo 5 (or A, D, and E w/ capo 3 if you don't need the minor 6th chord).
