The 1990-1992 Flash series was much less complex than the 2013- NOW show. It was cool that Shipp, the 1990's FLASH, showed up as Jay Garrick on the CW show

If they didn't try to stylise it after Burton's Batman it would have worked better. It was just too dark(visually) for it to be Flash.

The Robert Townsend Show was greatness. It was sort of a spinoff of his low budget movie 'Hollywood Shuffle'. Which was also a surprIse hit.

Glad to hear R.E.M.'s "Stand" with "Get A Life" as they apparently had to use an original song when it was in syndication...I notice that with some songs on "That '70s Show"... Also, both Clint Howard and Linda Hunt were in "Solo: A Star Wars Story"... :)

11:24 Deadline was essentially killed before it could get out of the gate. In between airing against Monday Night Football, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Ally McBeal, it also had to deal with losing crowds to pro wrestling (RAW was at its peak, Nitro... LOLWCW2000). It never had a chance. (also, Deadline was 2000-2001)
@RwDt093 жыл бұрын
You got that right, Deadline was 2000-01. How I let that one slip in as a 90s series can probably be explained by my thinking of the title Dateline, which did debut in the 90s, though I wouldn't have included that one in this video. A kind of subliminal cross-wired error, I guess.

Chris Elliot's Get A Life was before its time! It was so freaking funny and intelligent. It aired my freshmen year in college (Bates) and everyone in my dorm would gather around the lounge and watch it, and we KNEW a show this smart and offbeat would not last a second season. Unfortunately, we were correct.
@tbb0337 жыл бұрын
For some reason, on our local affiliate, it (along with Whoops! and maybe a few other shows [Gary Schandling?]) got preempted from prime time an aired instead in late night/overnight slot. But hey, I might not have ever seen them otherwise!

Sundry, indeed. These compilations need a context. Too many shows listed here seem to be arbitrary selections when they could be reflecting some social reality of the time. For example, the subordinate role of women (only one lame show with a female lead), "minorities" (one show with a black lead) or even the power of the printed press (e.g. Dick Wolf's Deadline). Speaking of Deadline the theme is somewhat funky.
