I'd have to consider those years the Golden age of Sci-Fi on television!
@RwDt099 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it was a golden age of sci-fi, but it certainly was a golden age of sorts for syndicated series, the numbers of which hadn't been seen since the 50s, I'd imagine.

I agree. There was a slew of different Sci-Fi, horror, and fantasy TV series on network TV back then. Then came the Hollywood writer's strike of 2004-2005, and the consequent birth of "reality TV" (starting with Survivor, of course). I don't think that the quality of network TV ever really recovered, after that.

@@cheshirekat3050 I think the increase in Cable Originals around that time... and Streaming Originals in 2015 ish was the death knell of Syndication

Pretty cool shows I remember. Sci-fi wasn't common and it was a treat. Now there's so much out and hardly any effort on some of the shows. I'm starting not to even look into them.

I enjoyed the War of the Worlds show, since I always liked the 50's movie that it followed on from. My favourite of these shows is Babylon 5. Problem here is how to keep the list from going on forever (almost). After all, there was no X-files, Lexx, Farscape, Space above & beyond, Firefly (just under the 2002 wire), Red Dwarf, Seaquest DSV, Sliders, ST Voyager, Dark Skies. Not sure if Doctor Who counts, since it finished its original run in 1989 (from 1963). There are even more, but that's what I can find/ remember.

Some of those would actually be network shows: specifically X-Filed snd Space Above ER and Beyond were on Fox.

Nice using 1st season of Babylon 5 since they used a different intro each season. And the follow up with its sequel Crusade.

Adrian Paul ended up on War of the Worlds and the black guy in the wheel chair ended up with him on Highlander which should have been in the vid.

Don't forget the Babylon 5, which imo kind of seems to have inspired the Deep Space 9.

Great collection, though I note a decided lack of Highlander.... (Don't know if you take requests, but if you're amenable, how about a block of shows from UPN, or The WB? Or how about Canadian or British shows?)
@RwDt097 жыл бұрын
There's a lot missing from my videos, some are impossible to get, some I just happen to stumble upon, some I don't think of including in one video but I end up using in another one, and some just overlooked. I believe Highlander might be in one of my other videos but I'm at a loss as to which one. I plan to eventually get around to UPN and WB shows once I've collected enough of those intros to get that ball rolling. There are already some sites I've happened across for just British TV intros and shows, but finding enough Canadian shows would require more work than I'm willing to put into for now as they're either very elusive or there just doesn't seem to be that many of them around.

Those extra words in the outer limits intro where totally extraneous verses the original 60s opening. The reboot wasnt much of an improvement either.

On Gene Roddenberry Earth: I noticed vast similarities to our beliefs today of-- shapeshifting eyes... are we in The Matrix... the pyramids, and the spaceships firing some sort of energy beam directly into the top. these things you can find on KZbin if you look for it. Let me know what you find in the commentaries. Question : was Gene trying to tell us that what we know today we already knew then just not publicly
