In a book I read about the great pitcher Christy Matthewson, he owned a 1904 but it stated the car cost $1,400. I have since read online that the Model B cost around $950.00 and went around 25 MPH top speed and had wood wheels and kerosene lamps.

Great vid and amazing old car. I note it has a high-voltage spark-plug ignition. Does the lead-acid battery supply current to the ignition coil? I was under the impression that most engines of that era used magnetos for ignition, and the cars had oil taillights and carbide or oil headlamps.

A lot of cars had a trembler coil and spark plug. The trembler coil is like a child's shocking coil, and will give a short burst of many sparks for each firing of the cylinder, whereas the later coil ignition or magneto give only a single spark. Trembler cars are much easier to start by hand.
