You certainly chose a beautiful area of Kentucky to visit. Virginia id just s hop and skip down the road from Jenkins. I spent a week in Whitesburg several years ago and did several special education workshops with all of the teachers and administrators. This was a very interesting story. Yes, there is always a woman in white or a lady in white in almost all types of ghost stories. May Ellen and Floyd rest in peace. Thank you for this awesome piece of Kentucky's history.

Thanks, guys, for another interesting story. I hope ya'll had a nice Easter holiday. I would say ya'll were in some beautiful area, but every place ya'll go out there is beautiful. I was born and raised in Texas. My dad's folks all came from Caney, Kentucky, Morgan County. Before I got to thinking about genealogy and where my roots came from, my dad, all his brothers, sisters, grandparents, and most of my cousins have all passed. So, I've had some issues trying to dig out everything. I am really want to travel to Kentucky to see what I can find out and find some distant relatives. That, I guess, is why ya'lls videos are so interesting to me. Please keep up the great work. God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels, so ya'll don't become a part of history. 😊

Wow!!! Another great story thank you again Heather and Leo. Heather, you mentioned that Floyd's mother told him" to get rid of her" I'm guessing the mother didn't mean to murder her. In my opinion I am guessing that the mother may have meant "get rid of her" as in having nonthing else to do with her if this was the reason she may have been murdered. Like you said none of us will ever know the real reason Floyd did what he did. 😢 Again thank you to both of you please keep the videos coming. You two are great at what you do!!!!

Have REALLY been enjoying your videos. With regards to the hanging site, I regret to say you were in the wrong spot. They hanged him up on the “school hill” overlooking downtown Whitesburg. That is where the Whitesburg school was at that time. It’s the site of the Whitesburg High School that was closed around 2005. The buildings you show in your video weren’t constructed until the 1970’s and 1980’s. As a side point, those two schools in your video were heavily flooded back in July, 2022. One is still closed.

Ellen Mariah Mullins Female1878-1907 • She was my Great Grandfather's Sister and also related on my Great Grandmother's side, Mullins line on my Mother's side. Our family history told the story of Art and Ellen Flanery orally throughout my life is very much as you presented it here. Art was injured from a wagon runny over his legs and later died. This left Ellen with 5 children at home. Floyd Frazier was a young boy who was known to be " simply in the head" and his parents owed a store in town. He would go around and ask to help people and seemed to be innocent and childlike. He started showing up at the home of Ellen after Art had died. Was said that Ellen was kind hearted to him and accepted help just to not hurt his feelings. That day of her disappearing, she had planned to cook a chicken and went to pick greens in their field, the 2 oldest went to town to the store for her. At supper time Ellen hadn't returned and the children were scared and hungry, but afraid to go out to ask for help. The next morning the older ones went to the store to ask for help, and also to send word to Wise, VA to her family ( Jeff Mullins my Great Grandfather ) and his brothers to come get the children. Jeff rode from Wise to Jenkins on horseback over the mountains that same day. It was told that Floyd did volunteer to search and that he also tried to convince the search party to look in the wrong direction than she was found. Most of my remembering of the details of her body was she had been killed and that Floyd Frazier confessed to killing her. We were told he was hung. Years later since the Internet and more access to records I was able to hear about the court case,read them and the attempts to get away from prison and the efforts by his family to defend him. I found out about 15 or so years ago that a ballad type song was written about her and also that one was written about Floyd Frazier. Her children were taken in by kin and raised well. My most recent discovery is these related stories of the White Woman/ Lady , I was never told anything about this in my childhood/ younger adult years. This is only within the most recent years. And I can say that Hiants / Haints and Haunted stories was a big part of my oral history. So I believe these most recent scary stories , which were not my family's story about Ellen and her death, are a new thing today. My other discovery has been just how much public attention , discussions, legal attention, media coverage etc. is placed on Floyd Frazier and very little to Ellen in this murder. Even the songs written and sung sound sympathetic to him and his family. Maybe I am just sensitive to my Mullins family but I do wish more things were written about that side of this tragedy. Which brings me to my appreciation to you and your Husband, the time, efforts and expenses of bringing this story to us , it is priceless to me, would be to her children today I feel certain and is appreciated so very much. Keep doing your good work to tell these stories and may God bless you , your family and love ones always🙏

@@nancyhallauer4537 no, we were married in 1995, and went to the holler to visit Grannie (Flora Jane) when I first heard about this. My husband probably heard bits and pieces growing up, but hadn't really focused on the details. His mom was the eldest of Flora Jane and Dan Wright's children, so she left the holler after my husband was born in the late 1940s. I took an interest in Ancestry during the pandemic and have been finding details. I do healing work, resolving trauma from past generations, so have focused on it more than my husband has.
@kellykiernanray57459 ай бұрын
@@nancyhallauer4537 thank you so much for providing your account. No one seems to focus on how traumatic it must have been to deal with Art's horrible injury and death. Ellen must have been beside herself... The trauma of his accident, Ellen's murder, the kids losing both parents in the space of six months, and then being raised separately surely impacts descendants to this day... ♡ My heart goes out to all. 💙
