The one thing the PWS has over other piston ARs or DI is that it is damn near impossible to get a brass over bolt malfunction since the piston occupies that space. Which imo is the malfunction that takes the most time to remedy outside of a catastrophic failure.

Finest Gas Piston design AR platform on the market. I've been running them for years. I enjoy their hardware so much that I've incorporated the MOD2 lowers on multiple builds and used their sister company Bootleg Inc's impingement version of the upper and handguards. Sadly their original skeletonized upper and handguard are no longer available. I just used my last set on a build with a Ballistic Advantage "Hanson" profile barrel. It's very accurate and runs like a swiss watch.

Dial the gas to two, it’ll feel like a BB gun when it recoils. Shooting on 1 will cause premature parts wear if shooting suppressed. 11.85 was chosen because they had a certain velocity that they wanted to keep at 300 meters and that was the shortest length that’ll provide that velocity- iirc. The balance is superior to every other AR piston gun. I sold my LWRC’s and only run PWS now. It is a superior system.
@andykular3756 Жыл бұрын
what setting do you recommend if you dont run suppressed? Im getting this to reduce gas to the face as a left handed shooter..thx u!
@1AbominAble1 Жыл бұрын
If it’s good ammo you should be able to run it on setting 3, using the least amount of gas. Some steel core will run in that setting but if you start getting short stroking of the BCG then bump it up to setting 2. The chances of needing setting 1 are highly unlikely. Good luck to you.

Yes, on more than one rifle. It will show up in the first couple hundred rounds but it doesn’t get any worse after that. I was concerned about it when I saw it on the first one but the gun runs, never jams, and like I said, it hasn’t become any worse after that initial break in. Odd? I never noticed it on a DI gun, so yes. Problem? I don’t think so. Could it stress someone out who wants there gun to look new forever? Absolutely. Does it seem to have an effect on performance? Not so far. I’m 5 rifles and 6 uppers in with PWS, I have nothing but positive results so far. For the sale price on uppers right now I wouldn’t think twice about making the jump into getting one.

After having a superlative arms jam and bend the oprod affectively riveting the gun shut. No more oprod AR’s for me. PWS is amazing gas adjustments are stellar. Their Gun coatings out of this world. @stevieseasalt2 жыл бұрын
Piston Guns are quieter at the shooters ear and for anyone behind the gun. Secondly, they disperse excess gas forward of the hand guard or front underneath them, making it a much less gassy experience. These are big time selling points that no one grasps…….unless they shoot suppressed. Great video.
@elitetrader5468 Жыл бұрын
On your first point I wasn't aware of that. Any objective data to prove that? I do agree with your second point.

@@elitetrader5468 I must say, that the point I made is hard to prove. Over the last year I’ve shot a variety of piston guns. From The MCX, multiple Sig 516’s and one LMT. There are too many factors. I can no longer objectively and honestly say that piston guns are quieter. Some guns are quieter suppressed than other for a variety of factors including, buffer weights, suppression, suppression settings etc. Much respect @elitetrader.

Setting 1: If you are not using a suppressor, setting 1 is recommended with all types of factory ammunition and in all conditions for maximum reliability. Setting 2: When running Setting 3, if your firearm feels sluggish or stops functioning reliably, try setting 2. Many modern suppressors have lower back pressure and require this setting to function reliably. Setting 3: When using a suppressor, we suggest setting 3
@Johnblaze6782 жыл бұрын
Since the CGS Helios QD was designed to reduce back pressure considerably, that's why setting 1 works best for you. Most standard suppressors have more back pressure and require setting 2 or setting 3. Other suppressors like the OSS would also require setting 1 to run reliably due to low back pressure design.

Excellent review. The only thing that I would add is that all the parts that make up the bolt such as the extractor, ejector, firing pin, are standard AR parts. You can even use a standard AR bolt it will work, I have done it. The bolt carrier is proprietary but how often would you destroy a bolt carrier? The only problem with AR carriers for the most part would be broken gas rings that score the inside of the carrier or loose tolerances that affect the gas flow. You have none of that with the PWS system. The most problems that I have seen with over 50 years of working on ARs for customers as well as police agencies are gas rings, which the PWS does not have, chipped firing pin tips, and extractor and ejector springs. All of those parts are interchangeable between the AR and the PWS.

Personally I wanted the mk2 for its sexy looks! As far as extra parts I would order a replacement bolt and the spring that is on the bolt. The bolt on the pws is spring assisted due to it not having gas rings. If you have the chance to see one in person definitely check one out. You can't truly appreciate how nice they are until you see one in person. The action is so smooth it's like it's on ball bearings.

People that complain about proprietary parts are the same guys that shoot 200 rounds a year. It will take them 75 years to break a part on average. As a 1500 round per month shooter I haven’t managed to break anything on my HK MR556, LMT MARS-L MRP 556, DD 300 blackout and many other guns not a damn thing has even coughed much less needed to be replaced. Just buy what you want then run it. Also to people complaining about gun prices, the guns are the cheap part. It’s the ammo that it costs to break it that is expensive. Quit bitching and get out there and shoot.

One other thing that I think you guys missed, most if not all pws guns are 223 Wylde chamber - so you can shoot 223 and 556 and not have the accuracy issues that you tend to get shootjng 223 out of a 556. Another neat "quality of life" feature that pws really loads up on despite a very reasonable price tag. I'm sure at some point Ill get a standard DI AR to complement this one with, but I like it so much it'll definitely be my go to. Look into Redi-Catch if you want a Bolt Lock on the right side of the gun. They LIC the tech from Radian for their ADAC. I run it on my SR=15 It pretty fucking amazing for working malfunctions under NODS. I am so so much faster working the gun under nods when I can lock the bolt back with mag release.

Have the 11.85” Mod 2 and love it. Recoil impulse is a little different but not in a bad way. Slapped an optic and a Surefire Warcomp for my SOCOM can and was good to go. Great gun and would recommend for sure

I sold a crap ton of these back in 2015. Unfortunately, the guy I worked for gacked up the relationship with PWS. They're really well made rifles though. Love a Diablo in 7.62X39 with a can.

The three settings are normal, suppressed, and adverse. I use the adverse setting to cycle subsonic brown bear 196 gr 7.62x39mm on my pws. My 16" is sub moa with hornady black and moa with brown bear hp. Hands down, my favorite rifle out to 400 yds.
@1911syndicate2 жыл бұрын
The settings must vary based on the suppressor and ammo because setting 1 is where mine stays even with the can

I think you guys are trippin' over this "proprietary" parts. But how often do you have to have to replace an adjustable gas block or bolt? Trigger, controls, stock, grip, almost everything is milspec back compatible! I have a PWS MK114 mod2 and MK111 PRO. These eat ANY ammo, super accurate, and don't rust. I love the nitride finish on the barrel. I love how you can adjust the gas for suppressor, yet don't have to. It eats up any ammo, with or without a Can, and runs super clean inside. Super lightweight AR15, same advantages of a HK416 at a fraction of the price. I love the aesthetics of the Mk1 Mod2. The more I learn about PWS, the more I love their design. Everything is engineered to perfection. Better steel buffer, ambi controls, better recoil impulse, better MLOK mounts, and handguard is easy to remove. Now I can't wait to buy a MK109 and Mk107 too!

MK107 "Diablo" in 7.62x39mm is definitely better than the 556. I recommend reviewing one of their mk107 Diablos or the MK111 7.62x39. It'll impress the pants off ya. It's the best 7.62x39 gun I've ever shot - surpasses my Galil ACE SBR.

For the price, get the BRN180-S. Also made by PWS AND you don't have to fuck with a buffer. Also usually a littler cheaper.

That may be true but it's a short stroke system vs the PWS long stoke. Some folks prefer longer strokes. ;-)

Thanks for the great video. Is it safe to predict a review of the 7.62x39 or .300 blackout versions in the future? I think the option to run 7.63x39 on an AR instead of an AK would be a big pro for PWS.

@@1911syndicate Get it, it is awesome. I have a x39 MK111 Mod2 SBR and out of the 5 PWS rifles I own, it’s my favorite by a long shot. It’s a hammer. Shoots so smoothly that when others shoot it they’re in awe. The accuracy is superb, even with shit ammo. The balance is perfect, and when suppressed you can shoot comfortably without ear pro.

I have no idea if this is the reason for the 11.85" barrel or not, but it could be something to do with dwell time, like that could be the shortest barrel you could have with a certain gas system length to get a consistently reliable dwell time or something similar. I know that's why AKS's have the funky brake, it's to increase the amount of time the system is pressurized to improve reliability.

I’m a huge pws fan, but don’t love the piclok. It’s very clever, but it’s not a true mlok, it’s really a direct thread. I stripped out one of the threads on my mk109 and can now only use the pic rail. Their old “picmod” rail on my mk111 (key mod/pic hybrid) was actually even cooler, because it was a true picatinny with key mod slots, really a brilliant, and super clean design. Keep up the good work boys, best taste in guns on KZbin.

I just purchased a 7.62x39 PWS MK111 Mod 2 and it is simply amazing. The fit and finish quality is top tier. I need to get more rounds through it, but so far its making a case to be my favorite rifle in my collection! Love the long stroke piston system. Butter smooth and because I run it suppressed full time, its not a dirty, filthy mess after a couple rounds due to the piston driven vs DI gas system. You are going to PAY for this though.. nothing new there.. everything is more expensive today. Also, PWS only does one run of 7.62x39 caliber rifles per year as far as I know. You have to get your pre-paid order in early and wait until they do a run before you get your rifle. Depending on when you order, could be a long wait. At least for 7.62x39. Not sure about the other calibers.

Got lucky…I discovered the mk116 mod 2 7.62 a week ago then yesterday I found the upper in stock because the website had them labeled wrong and no one could find them. They gave me the UPC code and it came right up. I ordered it before they fixed it on their website. I discovered the PWS mk116 mod 1 locally but they were asking nearly $500 more than I could get it online straight from PWS.
