Looking for a gas piston upper and found this, did my research was fairly impressed. Was convinced to move forward. Picked up the upper and was not disappointed. Well designed, engineered and built. Watch the bolt and the charging handle removal and replacement. Once you find the slot fo the CH and see how it works, no problem. Just unique.

Love PWS. They make excellent guns. Since I got into Suppressers they’re what I exclusively use. Sold my DI guns and got a 11.85 223, 11.85” 7.62x39, and a 9” 300 blackout.

I thing I noticed about my PWS is how smooth my bolt carrier rides in the upper receiver!!!! It rides like it’s on rails and it has very few contact points!!!!! I couldn’t be happier with my Mk11 Mod 2!!!!

Same, my Mk116 Mod 2 is the slickest feeling charging action with the bolt that I’ve ever felt. They’re so well made it’s crazy. PWS is my favorite AR company by far.

Bought one of your uppers back in 2011 on a trip down to the small arms review gun show in AZ. loved that upper at shot the crap out of it. At the time I purchased it the upper was a demo upper and I scored it at set up lol. the people I bought it from were good at explaining it for me since it was a new set up. When it comes to Modern Piston Rifles LWRCi was originally the Creme de la Creme. Later I discovered PWS (in the Mod 1 mk116) and have purchased 3 others. I have a friend that's never cleaned his simply cause he hasn't needed to.

@@Apolloneek LMT piston is ridiculously front heavy. I do like their gas guns. I wouldn't waist my time with POF. I do know Marines who have stuff from them and are happy with the rifles but I do not have a high opinion of POF. PWS has a new "econ" line of rifles the MK1 Pro Line that is def worth checking out.

PWS has some of the best innovations on the market. What other company has so many unique inventions? The best long stroke piston, the staged gas dissipation, fluted buffer tube, ratchet castle nut, friction reducing machining, best muzzle breaks. Very underrated company.

I ran approximately 1000 pounds in a day supressed... carbon welded my suppressor and just about carbon welded the piston. That thing was tight! Once cleaned, no issues whatsoever

I have requested that PWS offer 6.8 spc II as a caliber option literally hundreds of times. My LWRC Six 8 is my only non PWS rifle that still has a place close to my heart. News has it that the Army will switch to a new 6.8 caliber so I may finally get my wish.

As of right now, their website claims that barrel changes require special tools due to some proprietary features, so uppers must be sent in if you want a barrel change or if something happens to the piston system itself. This would be my ONLY beef with PWS, but besides that it looks like a fantastic system. Check out Garand Thumb's channel for a full review!

I know this video is old but .... I love to shoot suppressed and have tried several versions /styles of the AR platform.. I like BCA side chargers.. But the PWS long stroke system is the best in my mind.. Pricy.. I bought a MK111 Mod 2 and love it.. Mounted on a PSA lower.. I couldn't stand the mismatch and just broke down and got the PWS pistol lower.. Their tech and sales dept were excellent.. I am hoping for the 308 version to come back out soon.. But again over a Grand for the upper.. dang...

When reassembling my M114 Mod 2M I find getting the captive charging handle to seat into it’s receiver slot is fiddly for me. Is there a reassembling tip for doing this? Thanks for a very thorough presentation of an excellent system.

Do it upside down so you can guide the piston rod into its tube and see where the notches on the charging handle drop into its channel.

Yes the Mod 1 has a forward assist the Mod 2 does not. One is for LE or Mil the other is more for the public.

They are priced right. These rifles are in the league of other high-end guns like LWRC, BCM, Noveske, LMT. Not Bushmaster, PSA, Radical, DPMS.

They just released the “pro” it’s an extruded upper receiver. Basically made faster and saves some money. The uppers are only like $600 and that’s with a bcg and nice charging handle... that’s fairly reasonable

Piston AR-15 class weapons have an interesting development history. Apparently, the POF P415 / P416 was developed around 2002. Heckler and Koch released the HK416 around 2004 or 2005. PWS was doing their Long Stroke Uppers around 2009??? Before even doing the Mk 1 MOD 0 as a full weapon. And Seal Team 6’s use of the HK416 to kill bin Laden is what gives the impression that the HK416 is the golden goose of Piston Driven AR-15 class weapons? My mind is blown by the fact most of these Piston AR-15s started around the same time as each other. Kinda makes you wonder what LWRCi was doing their Piston rifle, or when the SIG MCX was getting preproduction started…

Don’t know if PWS has but the US Navy SEALs chose the HK416 and HK417 partly because piston systems are better for amphibious warfare than DI systems. DI gas tubes have to be drained of water before they can be fired. Piston systems only have to drain the gas block and can start firing more quickly after coming out of the water.

They do. I called them and asked. Some of their older models (like my MK109 Mod 1) don't because the hole on the rear of the bolt carrier is too small to accommodate the op-rod of the SCS. They told me all I have to do is upgrade the bolt carrier to the one they are currently offering and it'll work.

Without knowing the specific model of this particular rifle is more confusing then not when visiting your website, hopefully it's not the one that retails for $4999.00! In that case, we'll move on to a bolt action in the .243 caliber which is not offered in the Brownell anyway. We're not trying to buy the farm, just a quality rifle!

Seen too many malleable bolt carrier groups and bolt carrier tilt issues with a piston system. I'm interested but you guys need to performance test to failure to make experienced people buy off on a piston system over DI. I'd be more inclined to test it myself if PWS sold just the piston system and not the entire upper or rifle. Pass, but will keep my eyes open.

@@bobbyraejohnson Not so. The market has seen a strong downturn in the number of suppliers of the piston upgrade kits BECAUSE the 'gas key' component is quite malleable. Every one of my friends who has had a piston upper or installed a piston upgrade kit has gone back. Granted, that is only 4 people, 0 success stories.

@brsrbck They were homemade complete uppers from experienced individuals, not sure about their lowers but that really shouldn't matter in this case. They were built originally as gas piston but by using a conversion kit from Adam's Arms or Superlative Arms. I dimpled and pinned most of their gas blocks myself. None of the gas piston systems I have seen were from Lewis Machine and Tool or anything like that because none of my friends are going to spend $1k+ on an upper where they didn't have any control on the sourced parts just to have an upper where there are extreme limitations on bolt carrier group replacement parts. I can't comment on the LMT uppers or other "single company" completed uppers so I probably shouldn't have posted my original post but the failure rate with the conversion kits, whether on a new rifle or a used one being converted, is enough to make me forgo any desire to change my platforms over to gas-piston. That being said, I have absolutely no problem with kalashnikov rifles and their gas piston systems. In fact, I find them preferable at close range.
