1917 Stars Gush Over Saoirse Ronan, Leonardo DiCaprio, & Oscar Buzz

British actors Dean-Charles Chapman and George MacKay both got their acting start very young in life, with George appearing as the Lost Boy Curly in the 2003 live-action 'Peter Pan', and Dean-Charles playing young King Tommen on "Game of Thrones". Now, they are both all grown-up and taking on very grown-up roles in Sam Mendes's Golden Globe-nominated World War I drama '1917'! The two lads drop by the Young Hollywood Studio to fill us in on this insanely ambitious project, which was filmed and edited to appear as one long uninterrupted shot. They tell us about the intense 5-month rehearsal period and what it was like to work with co-stars like Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Firth, plus they reveal their dream co-stars and some hidden talents!

I can't believe that Dean mentioned that he wants to meet Leonardo DiCaprio. Am I the only person who thinks he looks enough like him to be his child? Why didn't the interviewer mention that? Is she blind? Dean should definitely do a film where he plays Leo as a young man OR one where he plays Leo's son. Also, I can see how George and Saoirse would have dated. An on set romance would almost seem inevitable. Their ages are compatible. Both have parents in the biz, both were successful child actors who made the frequently difficult transition to adult roles and both are so smart, sensible and mature that they come across as old people trapped in young people's bodies. I also felt embarrassed for them when the director of "How I live now" thought it was cute to put all their business in the streets by saying that he suspected that George was Saoirse's first "proper boyfriend." But then again, it just seems so sweet and so right.

The movie's publicists know what they are doing. Both young men are attractive, personable and are getting mad love from tweens, teens and even older females. So the guys are doing interviews with EVERYONE. George even patiently and politely talks to High school and Jr. High journalists. But then, he genuinely seems to be Tom Hanks levels of nice. And let's face it, these two WANT to be on the Hollywood A-List, so they are willing to put in the publicity work. One thing I've found out is that Brit actors are experts at hiding their massive career ambitions by being outwardly modest and using self-deprecating humor. But they go HAM after any type of good roles. Many times, the British actors are so surgically and politely ruthless that American actors don't know what hit them. Heck, even African American actors have started to complain about having to compete with black Brits for roles written for African Americans. My fellow Americans, stop complaining and STEP UP YOUR GAME! You can do it.

I know I'm gonna get loads of hate for this but I don't get the heaps of praise always being lavished on Saoirse Ronan. I always find her like a deer caught in the headlights, even when she showing emotion it's just really standard stuff. Maybe it has to do with people in the industry just liking her personality or professionalism or something, but onscreen I find her really dull generally.

I used to hate her also, whenever i see her im irritated by her hahha... but for some reason I saw her movies when she was younger (atonement, lovely bones, grand budapest) also lady bird but i didnt like it, then i saw little women (watched it for emma watson but ended up cringing for her) and i thought shes really good in it and for the first time i wasnt irritated by her presence hhhah...and so on, i’ve watched mary queen of scots and i thought it really suited her and i find her really beautiful in that movie, then came ammonite where i became obsessed with her ahahhha... cant believe i will like her this much, ive known her since atonement ;)

@@buzzardbeatniks oh, i haven't really paid attention to that but for me I think shes real good and can carry a movie well.... also as you mentioned her personality is great, I almost seen all her interviews here on youtube... ammonite have mixed reviews and a slow movie, kinda liked it though and watched it twice already, you can also check out On chesil beach, one of my favorite novel and I was surprised that they made it into a movie with saoirse in it...
