The headlights look perfect and the swan is AWESOME! As for me, I liked the "special" on the trim, but whatever you do will look good...I have no doubt! I'm really enjoying this build, but what makes me happier is that you're feeling better. I'm in the middle of a rebuild of my '37 ford, and love watching what you fabricate because it gives me ideas as well. Don't ever forget that you have a LARGE group of friends out here and we love going to Jonathan country for all that you give us. And of course, the animals are a part of it all especially Nana. I love that swan, when I was a kid in the early 60s a guy had one on a 51 Pontiac and I would look at it when he was parked at the country store. He also had a model A horn with a rod connected to the adjustment screw so that when he blew the horn he could turn that rod and it went moooo and he would blow that when he saw me in the yard. The things you remember and it all came back when I saw that swan!

The memories of a JC Whitney catalog - that takes me back! That swan is the finishing piece as far as I'm concerned - yeah, there's still work ahead, & he's got to do it in 268 degree heat, but I believe this is the man that can get it done. And now the dogs are getting snacks, so everybody's happy. "Genius" is a word that is wearing out because we use it for everything, but the lead inserts for the headlights are exactly that - no matter where he tightens them, that's where they're gonna stay. You don't want your headlights rattling around. This video just made my day!

A critical and potent addition to any personal creation is character, is individuality and these are subjective elements. Using what you have, what you're given and aligning those with personal tastes and ideas makes for great customisation. Does it look good? Does it do what's intended? Answer these questions and the creation will reflect fundamentally who and what you are about. This car and all the creations I've seen you compose and execute, have achieved and excelled these elements. I admire your approach, love to watch your builds and wish you the best of health to complete this and many, many more. Have many more great days feeling good, Sir.

Totally love how this build is going Jonathan. It looks absolutely amazing! The swan is the cherry on top and is a wonderful touch. If the electric fan that came on the shroud you ordered doesn't move enough air to keep things cool, there are loads of junkyard fan options that are cheap and move rediculous amounts of air. I used a set of Ford windstar fans on one of my square bodies and they keep the truck cool towing 8k+ lbs, being it is a half ton truck. For your application there are also pusher fans that would work great on the front of the radiator. If you are interested if the fan you have doesn't work out, lemme know! Very happy to hear you are feeling better, I and many other people care about you. Cheers!

Glad to know you're feeling better. Too many people think HotRods tradionally were show queens. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Growing up in LA, Cal. during the '50s I became familiar with some local hotroders in Glendale. Though they usually started with complete 20s and 30s cars they resembled what you cobble together from "junk". The theme seemed to be "shove the biggest engine you could find into any $5 or $10 car you could find". Yes, $5 or $10. I watched a running 1930 Model A change hands for $4.00. Most of those cars were hacked together by teenagers with little money. Fancy custom cars were fairly rare. My family left LA in 1959 and moved to Sacramento. Not so many HotRods in the area I lived in. Those cars from those days are what HotRodding means to me. I still want a Model A with a big Lincoln engine. I really enjoy your projects. You, my friend, are a true HotRodder. God bless and stay well. Dave

Jonathan, glad to hear you're feeling good today and just doing whatever you feel like doing. That's the ticket! Someone commented yesterday to cut hood trim where you could mount the "Special Deluxe" portion on the cowl. Know D side is already cut between the two words, but maybe? Really like the swan hood ornament and the Plymouth headlights. I still have a J.C.Whitney "Illuminated Jester" hood ornament I bought for my '53 Jimmy p.u. in 1974. Sold the truck years ago but hung on to the Jester. He's thumbing his nose with amber plastic arm and hand which light up as well as his bulging eye balls.
