When I was growing up in the 60s/70s, I can remember using ornaments my parents and grandparents had from the WW2 years. The metal parts on the glass ornaments were made of heavy paper. Since metal was used for the war effort.

I grew up during the 50's and 60's being born in 1952. My mother had ornaments like these and we had them for a long time until they were lost when we moved in the late 60's. I really miss them. Does anyone out there remember angel hair? Merry Christmas everyone 🎅🎀🎄⛄❄✌💗

Earlene: Wow, do I remember angelhair! My mother was crazy for angelhair and would put it all over the Christmas tree after the lights and ornaments were up. It did give a kind of dreamy "glow" to the tree with the lights shining through it, bit I hated helping her put it up because she was very fussy about how it was arranged and would keep telling me to be careful because it was fiberglass and could get imbeded under my skin?!! I remember actually being afraid of it because of that!!

earlene wallace yes, my father used to cover the whole tree in angel hair, I remember being entranced . The angel on top of the tree had crepe paper dress, I loved it. Am sure that’s why I started ballet.Tinsel was different then too, more delicate, no doubt it’s all to ‘dangerous’ for us now! Happy days xx

I remember my grandparents had an all-silver tree (artificial, duh). it was about 4 feet tall and it came with this motorized color light. It was basically a yard spotlight on a short stand and in front was a circular, plastic colored "lens" that rotated in front of the light. I think the lens was simply quartered into 4 pie slices of red, green, blue and yellow. It would project the spotlight through the rotating lens onto the silver tree. What I remember most was the whirring sound of the motor and how I associated that with a serene Christmas scene.

We had most of that in one form or another. I'm trying to find or MAKE another Santa bubble light holder as I have a lot of more modern bubble lights. The Christmas Ornaments were beautiful, but VERY BREAKABLE. I like the old Christmas lights, and the Tinsel hanging on the Fresh ChristmasTrees. I remember so many of those ornaments, my parents bought Shiny Bright ornaments for their first Xmas together in 1957, they were so pretty and well made, they lasted into the 1990s, I’m not sure what happened to their ornaments because I wasn’t around much once I left home, sad to see them gradually disappear. You’re so lucky to have some. Thanks for the memories! I also remember the large Xmas bulbs for the tree-red, blue, green, orange, even white, which is a color you can’t find today on the strands of multicolored lights. The Xmas trees of my youth always seemed magical because of those lights and ornaments.

Been collecting vintage ornaments for a couple years now, and I recognize a lot of those brands, especially Shiny Brite. Between the ornate designs on the ornaments themselves and the art on the boxes, vintage ornaments have a certain overall quality, character and charm to them that is unparalleled. The newer stuff just can't compare.

My friend bought a house with all the contents. Some of these things that you have pictured in the video were found in the attic and basement, the old plastic Santa with the plastic reindeer that is pictured in the video. The oldest thing he found was the round glass ball ornaments in a box marked 1930. There was the old cardboard fireplace and the silver tree and the rotating "wheel" light that you would shine on it which would shine different colors on the tree. Everything was in perfect shape!!

I remember Mom and Dad having alot of these same ornaments. just lovely. one year I want to do a Christmas tree with vintage ornaments. I think it would be beautiful. maybe next year because I am working on a antique room. it's going to be decorated with some of my grandparents and mom's keep sakes. also things I found at antique stores of like things that mom had.

Enjoyed seeing these ornaments! I have ornaments from my parents that we made in the 1940’s through 1970’s. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

1954 here. I remember most of them. My father kept them in his Navy SeaBees trunk. Unfortunately, when moved we didn’t take the trunk. I’m sure you know how especially my brother, 11 years older than me, and I felt. We sure regret it. That’s what happens when you’re in a hurry. Thanks for the memories.

That Christmas eve video where you quietly film the decorations with that music selection is wonderful. Very nicely done. Thank you, so much.

Wow! That cherry Jell-O mincemeat thingy that was described at the beginning sounds absolutely delicious, and I think I have just enough left over mincemeat to make it! Yum! And thank you so much for this wonderful video.❤💚❤💚

Awesome collection! Christmas during the 40's is what will always be cemented in my mind as how it should be celebrated. I plan on looking for similar decorations to decorate with from now on. Beautiful decorations my friend.

Truly enjoyed as alot of your ornaments looked familiar . I recall a box (muted grey/tan w/green lettering)my mom had when i was growing up . Also in later years i purchased the Shiny Brite box of ornaments back in 1974 ! Another one was the bubble lite Santa as well a kid growing up in late 50's/60's . Thanks for the memories & Happy Holidays !🎄🎅❄🤶🎄

I wished that I had saved my family's ornaments & the silver tree we had back in the 60's & 70's. Looking at all of your prized possessions took me way back. Thank you for sharing.
