Born in 1950, I cherish listening to extremely old music. So calming for me. My imagination goes back to think of my grandparents and if they liked this when they were young adults raising families. All are long gone. I love to oil paint while listening. I also love old, old movies. Thank you for letting me hear all of these repeatedly and by decade....

My dad was born in 1950 too, I'm 14 and I absolutely love listening to this kind of music! I adore it so much. I sometimes wonder if I lived a past life in the 20's or the 30's lol. I love the past, the 50's, 60's, 80's, you name it. Pretty much anything old and I'll love it, which probably is why I have so many creepy old dolls and little trinkets sitting in my room. My family thinks it's strange and peculiar (even my dad) that I like such old-fashioned things, but I feel like it's where I really belong, a true home to me. :)

I'm 75 and loving this. Love music from 20's and 30's. I picture people (back in the day) dancing on a cruise ship at dinner time or at a banquet on New Year's Eve with a live band in the background. Ladies in cocktail dresses with crystal earrings and men in tux attire. Waiters serving drinks on trays to tables with men smoking cigars and ladies smoking cigarettes with long black cigarette holders. Ok. see what this music does to me??? Al Bowley is a favorite of mine too. So happy I found this.

Hey, Silva, I'm from 1963 too and also love this stuf (as well as Punk and Metal). I recommend you watch a 1979 British TV series, "Pennies from Heaven" with a young Bob Hoskins; it's a 1930 murder mystery parody with music spots where the actors dance and lipsync to the hits of that era. You'll love it, Silva.

honestly what you're saying is complete nonsense. They are two completely different headspaces with different tones and intentions. Those tracks you're referring to are purposefully produced to sound a certain futuristic way with auto tune and sequencers. These tracks are fantastic but to consider it any more "Real" than a track crafted by a team of producers and engineers is ridiculous. Live in the now! But still enjoy this music forever.

I absolutely love music from the 1920s and 30s! Whenever I hear those jazzy tunes, I'm transported to a different time and place. There's just something about the energy and style of that era that can't be replicated today. I love the way the instruments sound, and the way the vocals are delivered with such passion and emotion. It's a form of art that's timeless and always puts me in a good mood. In my opinion, nothing being recorded today can compare to the magic of this music. It's just so unique and special. Whenever I need a pick-me-up or want to feel nostalgic, I turn on some 1920s and 30s music, power up my beautiful antique lamp and let the music take me away to another place in time. Love, love, love it!

We'd roll up the big rug in the parlour and dance to this music on the radio. I çan still smell the ladies' face powder and the men's hair tonic. Once when my sister was dancing with her fiance, she kicked up her leg and her shoe sailed right through the picture window. Mother was so astonished she had to sit down in a chair but Dad was doubled over in his suspenders, laughing till his face was red. I sure do miss them all.

@HoneyBee - Yay! My grandparents also got married in 1934! They were married 78 years (they are in a record book kept by a gentleman in Denmark of longest married couples from all over the world). They both lived to their 100th year and both died months before turning 100, and died months apart. For their 70th wedding I had a 1930s themed party for them and played music from the 1920s and 30s and 40s which was their childhood and heyday as younger adults. It's why this music will always be my favorite.

Wow. These bands played tightly together, and could shift expression on a dime. Clearly a lot of these players had trained classically, but the jazz appeared and provided openings for employment. This is the period just before radio went mainstream and the newer, even more energetic bands took over. Still, this period is to be savored too. U would love to time-machine back to these venues and hear the bands without the limitations of the era's recording technology.

The world of swing, the blues and rhythm and blues is so neglected, but goodness these feet can’t keep still! Such a joyful sound. If you love this style join a swing dance class, you won’t go wrong and you’ll have a great time and forget your troubles. And no need for wasting time at the gym. Thank you for this!
