@@Patrick_B687-3 Mind you, the car in the link IS an original Alfa Romeo Monza, built circa 1932, given an enlarged engine in 1933 (The car Jay Leno drove had a 2300cc engine, the car on my link had 2600cc), and it had a very good race record, driven by the best drivers of the day, and there it is, driven in the wet. And best of all, the owner of the car in the link I posted likes to drive that car on the road. In fact, in 2012 the owner did a remarkable feat in that priceless car. He drove it from Germany (where the owner lives), through Belgium, France, loaded it to the channel train to UK, then once in the UK, drove it to a race track where he entered it in a historic race meeting, raced it there, WON the race, and once the race meeting is finished, drove it back home again!

Regardless, even if what you say is true and you got a defective unit, that doesn't mean all Alfa's are rubbish or that it's something exclusive to that brand. All car manufacturers have problems and defective units as well as good cars. What you commented was indeed false and cliché. It's a popular norm to say Alfa's are unreliable or rust away, based on false perception. Alfa Romeo did have problems in the past, but it learned from it. Amazing. If you had filmed in black/white, it could have looked similar’ish to a Tazio Nuvolari clip. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your very special event!!!

Loved that supercharger whine! What a car!
@jdogrulez50148 жыл бұрын
Bob Groh that's actually the straight cut gears from the transmission. You can hear a similar whine in some cars when they go reverse because some reverse gears are straight cut. I love the sound straight cut gears make.

You don't realize how difficult it is for some people to solder, I spent 7 years trying to teach Jr HS kids how to solder, some people just don't get it, that's why the electrical codes now specify a mechanical connection.

I was surprised to see that, you'd expect at least a halfassed lineman's splice/some twists for $4-500k, not that mess.

That sound is a supercharger whine. Had a motorcycle with a supercharger, nothing like it in the world. Many moderns have superchargers, but you are insulated from the mechanicals. On a bike, and in this Monza open cockpit you get the full effect. Never heard of this company, nor the replicas. Jay is right! A bargain at any price..... O. And second, this is a replica of a race car? With lights and mirrors? I know they are easily removed, but point of history: Did they race with them like that? (rules) or did they race them and also flog them for sale to the public? 1932, who knows? Third, I"ve been clicking on JL garage for 10 years..... never caught this one. Fantastic video!!

Thanx for the ride. This car was, and still is an engineering masterpiece. It doesnt matter its a replica, because its is the real thing built recently so it can be experienced the way it should be. Gorgeous piece of automotive history and sounds like it wants to be driven hard. One of the Mona Lisa's
