The term 1932 Ford may refer to three models of automobile produced by Ford Motors between 1932 and 1934: the Model B, the Model 18, and the Model 40. These succeeded the Model A. The Model B had an updated four-cylinder engine and was available from 1932 to 1934. The V8 was available in the Model 18 in 1932, and in the Model 40 in 1933 & 1934. The 18 was the first Ford fitted with the flathead V-8. The company also replaced the Model AA truck with the Model BB, available with either the four- or eight-cylinder engine.
The three car models were replaced by the streamlined Model 48 in 1935 which used the same chassis as its predecessor. The 1937 Ford would be the last to use the old 1932 chassis until 1940 when the car line of Ford was completely redesigned.
When Ford introduced the Model A in late 1927, there were several competitors also offering four-cylinder cars, among them Chevrolet, Dodge, Durant, and Willys. That changed within a few years, soon leaving the new Plymouth the sole major make in the Ford's price class with a four.
Although sharing a common platform, Model Bs and Model 18s came not only in Standard and Deluxe trim, they were available in a large variety of body styles. Some of them, such as the commercial cars described below, were only available as Standards, and a few other came only in Deluxe trim. There were two-door roadster, two-door cabriolet, four-door phaeton, two and four-door sedans, four-door "woodie" station wagon, two-door convertible sedan, panel and sedan deliveries, five-window coupe, a sport coupe (stationary softtop), the three-window Deluxe Coupe, and pickup. The wooden panels were manufactured at the Ford Iron Mountain Plant in the Michigan Upper Peninsula from Ford owned lumber. One of the more well known and popular models was the two-door Victoria, which was largely designed by Edsel Ford. It was a smaller version of the Lincoln Victoria coupe, built on the Lincoln K-series chassis with a V8 engine; by 1933 Lincoln no longer used a V8 and only offered the V12, with the V8 now exclusive to Ford branded vehicles.[1]
Prices ranged from US$495[2] ($10,617 in 2022 dollars [3]) for the roadster, $490 for the coupes ($10,510 in 2022 dollars [3]), and $650 for the convertible sedan ($13,942 in 2022 dollars [3]). Production totals numbered from 12,597 for the roadster to 124,101 for the two-door sedan. Ford sold 298,647 V8-powered 18s in 1932,[4] and except for the fact Ford could not keep up with V8 demand, the essentially identical four-cylinder B would have been a sales disaster: dealers switched customers to them from the V8, and even then sold only 133,539,[4] in part because the V8 cost just US$10 more ($214 in 2022 dollars.

There is one other Switchers kit that I have. It’s a ‘32 Tudor Sedan. That one comes with two bodies, one is a phaeton and the other is a two door sedan. Also as a tip, if you want flat paint but have to put down decals, use a gloss color coat. You won’t get that weird edge on the decals. Then you flat clear everything and it will look great! not complaining just saying. if you will notice the "stock" manifolds are "ram horns" as in a small block Chevy and the heads have spread exhausts as in a big block Chevy. just thought it was interesting have a couple of each of the kits in the series. were much fun to build

Funny I watched this video and then went to an on line Facebook live model auction and bought the sedan version. Being honest, I don't care for the wheel track width. They stick out way too far but they did that stuff in the 70's.

I had the Switchers 1932 Ford Sedan/Phaeton kit when it was re-issued in the late 2000s when Round 2 first started. The box art replicated the original vintage kit well, but some of the words were misspelled on the box.

Parts wise this kit is the same as the mpc 32 ford sedan delivery, the body is the only difference, fenders frame and chrome are exact minus headers, interior the same tub except shortened, gotta have at least 3!, that would be the coke theme 32 sedan you built earlier

The cool thing about this kit is that I think you can build Milners coupe from American graffiti! Not an exact replica but it's the kit mpc used just like the ram chargers dragster was basically Milners dragster

@@garyparker2969 one of my old buddies that builds models argued with me that you need several kits to build Milners dragster I told him no you need the ram chargers kit to build the dragster because that Milners dragster came from that

Hi Chris I watch your show every week ive noticed on this vid and others you were having trouble keeping the windshield in place while gluing Thought I'd throw you a tip of what I do I start with a piece of masking tape on the outside of the frame and put the windshield in place as you do at the rear the tape holds it steady while you glue it from behind You can apply this method to any glass on any model Once the glue is cured you simply remove the tape It really makes it easy give it a try next time Love the Chanel I really enjoy it the best unboxings and description out there Love it mate spud from Australia

I like the seat belts molded in for some reason, probably because it saves a step....and frankly at 1:25 it probably won't matter. With all the options to build this kit (which I love, the options that is) your choices Chris were really cool as usual.

Hang on i just realized that if you take this kit and combine it with 2 Revell 32 ford model a roadster rat rod and do an little bit of surgery on the frame so it can have 2 engines you got the Elvis car from mad max fury road

They had the 32 Ford sedan which is the coca cola delivery,the 25 t and the black jack tall t ,not sure if there was anymore than that

I have the 32 roadster/5 window, sedan/phaeton, and the 25 "T" rod. when they released them for the 2003 "buyers Choice program". There were two others: the sedan delivery and the "American Graffiti Deuce Coupe which were based on the switchers kits but were not part of the Switchers per say!

"...a lotta stuff in this box" for sure. This kit is a basher's supply: chopped deuce body ( worth the kit alone ) carbs, suspension parts, on and on. Despite the builder's obvious skill, the finished model is not particularly handsome, although many 30's gassers from this era looked dorky by today's standards and this offering by MPC is faithful to that look.
