I don't know if this record was recorded with a Carbon mike, but on a Public Radio (heard on FM station) segment featured talking and pianot on some vitage mics including Carbon from 1920s era. It was said you must NOT think oc telepone mouthpiece performance, thenupper end extended to 10k and baqse as low as 50 cycles on some.

I like how guitar replaced banjo in the rhythm sections after electric recording came about. Guitar in Holding My Honey’s Hand sounds swell.

Another magnificent posting! "Whistle..." is certainly an all-star side - soloing on both alto sax and clarinet is Jimmy Dorsey, that's Herman Wolfson on tenor sax, and the incomparable Joe Venuti is heard near the end!! I don't know who the trumpet is, but he seems to be the same guy as on "Holding My Honey's Hand", I guess either Mannie Klein or Bunny Berigan (or neither??) - Anyway, one of the very best Selvin's and bravo again !!

The other side of "Holding My Honey's Hand" (Columbia 2676-D) is 'Sleep (Come and Take Me)" with Paul Small singing both sides. "Whistle and Blow Your Blues Away" (Columbia 2654-D) was sung my Milt Coleman and trio and the other side is "Lullaby Of The Leaves".

@Bigband78, I don't use CDs for my posts -- these are all from 78RPM or vintage transcriptions where indicated. The record shown in the graphics is the record I use for the audio.

Stellar! I love Paul Small and his recordings can be very hard to find. I was interested to learn that he also recorded a few sides on Columbia under the name Clyde Dunn in 1928. Does anyone know anything about him personally? He recorded some of the sweetest of sweet songs with the George Olson and Jack Denny orchestras in the early 30s. I also have two lovely songs "Masquerade" and "Let Me Dream" that he recorded with the Roy Smeck Trio. I suspect he died young, since I haven't found information on anything he recorded after the mid 30s.

I believe everything Prozoot posts are from original 78 rpm records. He has amazing skills at remastering them in ways that make them sound as if they were recorded recently. I don’t know how he does it, but he is amazing.
