So this is what our Grandparents were listening to back in the day. Ohhh I would love to see them dancing to this music.

As if the brilliance of the music is not enough, one has to respect the fact that this was delivered live, like all recorded music of the period as far as I know. I think these particular sides you shared are really amazing in that regard.

Great record...great sound...you can imagine how it would be to experience this music live! It must have been great going out to nightclubs and big city hotels to hear this music live with the one you love...and to have had the dough to do it!

Yes, It would have been, Would be great to have the money to open one of these clubs in a big city! What a time everyone would have

Most people of course did not have the money. There were down- market versions for the poorer folk. In Britain most cinemas had a famous name orchestra as part of the program.

@ynotime2dream2 Amazing you say that! I was just listening to this medley, (and others) as I watched the rain fall outside and enjoyed morning coffee! I like to think about how back in the day folks could get this wonderful music anytime just by turning on the radio. I go back to the 40's myself and the "Homeland" we live in today bears little resemblance to the free country I was born & raised in. BUT- we can close our eyes and REMEMBER, can't we?
@bobbywimsy67415 жыл бұрын
GooglFascists I agree. The underlying problem has been for 50 years, the moral virtues are no longer taught by most parents, schools, civic institutions, and religious institutions.Sadly, we're left with morally and spiritually empty persons devoted to money, self pleasing, and devotion to other idols such as drugs, guns, celebrity, images on screens, and the latest tech device. Said idols cannot fill the inner void of truth and virtue, and the practice thereof. It is a modern day cultural holocaust. Music and humor have been and shall continue to be my antidotes to this context in which we now live. It is life affirming for me at, ahem, 66 years of age.

Most of these guys, during this era, were just local guys, guys who knew how to play a high school instrument. And yet they created High Art. And by the way, (Did I say it?) the description should be High Art.
