Check out this 1932 Hupmobile. This very low production automobile is the only one left of its type. It has an interesting history and is the actual car that was displayed at the 1932 Chicago Auto Show. If you like this video like and subscribe to this channel and see many more classic and unusual cars and trucks. Some might even be a favorite of yours or like one you use to own. New videos will be uploaded regularly. Thanks for watching.

Hupmobiles were famous for their high quality body work which is very evident in this model. Notice the trunk rack on the rear? That is the origin of Americans referring to the "trunk" on their cars. The British called it a boot because on old time carriages the footmen rode on the back on a little platform they called a boot step. It's interesting to me how the people that made the body work of cars, who used to build carriages still included carriage features on cars.

It's amazing that the design of these cars was so incredibly beautiful, and today they all look alike and are extremely bland. Trivia: there's an episode of Leave it to Beaver where Ward mentions dating a girl because her father owned a Hupmobile. Nice car. Edit for IMDB quote, I stand corrected: It's revealed that Ward had a teen-aged crush on Loretta Mish. Ward mentions that Loretta Mish's dad had a Hupmobile Agency in Shaker Heights. The Hupmobile was a car built from 1909 through 1939.

What a unique and beautiful treasure! Seems inconsistent, to me, that the fabric on the ceiling and door panels show a fair amount of dirt and age...to be expected. But the seat fabric appears clean and much newer. Am I wrong?
@Mikesclassicautoworld
@Mikesclassicautoworld 4 күн бұрын
The door panels were redone but the rest looked older in comparison. A blanket or cover would go a long way preserving an area where expected wear would occur. I wouldn't be surprised if they were covered at some point in its life. Thanks for watching.
@stevemaconi3348
@stevemaconi3348 4 күн бұрын
I spoke with an owner of an interior restoration shop and he told me that it is not unusual for seats to be cleaned over the years but most people will not do the same to door panels or headliners. There is no question that the door panels of the front doors have been replaced but the rear seat panels/headliner and trim is original, as are the seats.

I suspect that car doesn't have body over wood and has parallel leaf spring suspension. If so its far better built than early 30s Fords and most other brands. I chose a 32 essex sedan and 31 hudson 8 coupe because of that construction and set up both to drive. Bayonet LED bulbs fit those head lights. Would have been real lucky to find a match for the original single tail light.

@@vw4x4 I re-read my response to you and do not understand why the angry response. I did not aske you to travel to the location of the "other" car. I asked where it was located. I would take the trip to look at it if I knew where it is located. No need for for accusations. I am going by all of the research that was done and what I was told my those who had previously researched the matter.
