Wow! That old box sounds unreal! I was hoping we would get to hear more of you playing probably the most iconic bluegrass guitar out there. What a treat!

Thanks! I have another video from the day with this guitar in a drop D tuning, and that is where it sounds best to me. Keep on the lookout once I get it posted.

I purchased a Henderson guitar based on a demo played by Allen. I knew it was a fine guitar but he really did bring out the best in it. Very special playing style…

A lovely tune but I think, with due respect to Mr. Shadd, that it's being played far too fast - bring out its beauty, give those notes room to breathe and let the listener enjoy the melody,

With all due respect, I played several tunes on the guitar that day and most of them were a fair amount slower than this one. That being said, I just did the research...... I played this at around 120 bpm, and if you look up Norman playing this tune live and check it you'll find he plays it at around 122 bpm. I have also seen him play it in person both slower and faster. So I guess the bottom line is I am sorry you didn't enjoy the tune because it was faster than you like. But I play for my own enjoyment as much as anybody else's, and I kinda like the speed this was played at.

Thank you for your detailed and interesting comments. I agree entirely with your take when you say that you play for your own enjoyment as much as anybody else. I'm probably the world's slowest flatpicker for exactly the same reason - and I freely admit that there's no way I could play this tune at 120bpm anyway!@@AllenShadd

@@AllenShadd Every time I think I'm playing something too fast I listen to the original and I'm amazed at how SLOW my version is. :)
