U got a real bargin, I drove one like this when I was a kid. Those spoked wheels tells us tht the tractor was bought directly from Joh Deere. They are mor valuable then the tractor. Enjoyed the video

Do you mean the front rims? The backs are cutoffs.

My grandpa had a ‘37 unstyled A, spoked wheels with fenders. I watched it sell on his farm sale in 1970. If I recall, it went for $500.

Yeah, your right about the reason for the change in prices, that generation is now passing and a lot of their preferred iron is hitting the market. Another good reason for the high value of Deere, would be that back in the 60's when many of us started collecting, you could go to most any Deere dealer and order parts for any early Deere, Deere was super good at parts support for many years, no matter the vintage tractor. Last summer I picked up a pair of 36 model A's for low dollars. An estate sale, the guy used them, as lawn ornaments. Shame, they were nice before that. I hope the grand kids take interest in this collection after I'm gone, other wise the auctioneer that sol most of them to me will have to just sell them again!

My son has an A like that but I think someone put a newer cylinder head on it or something. It has much higher compression than stock. You have to use 2 hands to start it. It has a problem with the transmission. It only has low gear I believe.

Those tractors start good in all weather if you know what your doing that's a beauty. 4 bolt pedestal. I remember when those would sell for a lot more than 3000 . the Internet flooded all this stuff plus young kid could care less.

At 6:15 the little orange garden tractor around how much would you be looking to get for it If you were to sell it
@tractorjunkcoАй бұрын
The problem with that 701 Wheel horse tractor is that I probably paid too much for it. I paid $800 for that 701, but because it's the first year of the front mounted engine that wheel horse produced they are rather rare.

@@tractorjunkco oh really thats so cool I just bought a John Deere 60 mower and I love it

I just bought an old 1938 Allis-Chalmers WC with decent tires on spokes, according to the former owner it was originally on steel, and his grandfather cut them off and welded rims on. Is it possible that happened on the old A?
@tractorjunkcoАй бұрын
@billloomis4975 Most likely, that's what happened to this A. The flat spoke wheels are pretty much only on steel wheels, and the round spoke are for rubber tires. Back in the day steel came standard on these old tractors, and rubber was a extra cost to the buyer from factory.

Had a neighbor that found out his dad had the #9 A that did the Nebraska state test and got 'lost' coming back from Lincoln, Nebraska. Should have been scrapped for redone into production.

I'm assuming that you use leaded gasoline?
@tractorjunkcoАй бұрын
I use straight 87 octane gas from the pump unless it's a high compression motor. These old John Deere tractors will run on about anything without complaint. I'll run zink in the oil, but that's about it.

Nice. Making sure it is in NEUTRAL before trying to Start is Mandatory. Put a tag on Compression Release Valve. "NEUTRAL?" 🪒 Have a Professional Weldor check All the Rear Wheel spokes. Looks like several have been 'repaired' along with the valve stem hole. Some Great old Wheel Horse tractor projects and others. You could be building that Shed today!
