In downtown Coburn, Pennsylvania you’ll find this well maintained Parker Pony Truss Bridge spanning Penns Creek on Route 2011. The bridge was built in 1938 and rehabbed in 1974. The bridge is about 119 feet long and according to local stats it services about 550 vehicles per day. However with Coburn only having a population of 236 people, I doubt if the bridge even sees 200 vehicles per day.
The town flourished when the Lewisburg and Tyrone Railroad was in operation but when the railroad closed in the early 1970s, Coburn slowed down quite a bit. Large homes line the main street and I’m not sure if they were built that way for families or if they were boarding houses back in the day. I think I’ll have to do a video on the history of the town at some point in the future.
