If you had pulled the handle on the side of the seat it would have folded forward so you/we would have been able to see the rear compartment.

Sublime! Absolutely the nicest 1940 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet Zephyr ever! The colors compliment the body design and look superb on this example. (Those colors remind me of the 1975 & 1977 Cadillac color "Jennifer Blue"--sometimes paired with a Dark Blue Top, too.) WOW!!!

Beautiful car indeed, although I'd be terrified reversing it into a parking space with only that letterbox back window and small side mirror to guide me! It was a car almost identical to this that I first saw and fell in love with in a classic 1945 murder mystery/musical film, 'Lady on a Train', starring Deana Durban. The film is thoroughly enjoyable, but the car really caught my imagination.

@thenov1944 Very true! However, in the film the car is seen at night in mid-winter, with snow on the roof, which would make dropping the top pretty uncomfortable! Also, is it a power top, I wonder? If it's not, putting it down just to reverse into a space - especially in the rain - might be quite a job. ;-)
