What people don’t talk about is the so called “freaks” loved their job it gave them a freedom that they usually wouldn’t have They were upset when their profession ended and they were out of work
@hatemkhrouf8955
@hatemkhrouf8955 4 жыл бұрын
Not all of them. I am sure that most were too prideful for this and felt insulted by the ones that did this kind of work. It is also important to consider that their jobs reinforced the insulting perspective the rest of society had on them, so all things considered, ending that profession was a net good.

Zip and Pip were a part of my family. Their names were Elvira and Jenny Lee Snow and they were also in the movie Freaks 1932. They were from Hartwell, GA! My family members have great memories of them and plenty of wonderful stories about their life!

@one punch god vegan? that has nothing to do with being vegan. I'm not vegan and still think this is cruel towards the tigers. the man was literally opening the tigers mouth wide open to the point where his jaw could've snapped. it hurts. they were obviously abused (and its proven that circus animals are abused just to do little tricks) obviously they are intimidated when the man raises his hand at them. so im fucking sorry that his comment didnt satisfy you, dragon balls z fan.

The real answer: after the Depression Coney Island lost some of its popularity. The neighborhood started to decline as well: Coney Island was never exactly a clean place to live; lots of gambling, underground gambling and the mob. The way it was run was that a person was responsible for his or her own private ride. Eventually some got too expensive to operate, plus changes in safety codes. Robert Moses was also a culprit. That man was an idiot and what you see on Coney Island now are old housing projects that he put up. Where they stand now used to be part of the Amusement park. Moses stupidly crammed a bunch of very poor and very desperate people into a small area, rhen added a healthy heap of social upheaval and crime, similar to what happened with Cabrini Green in Chicago: by the 1970s, you can imagine why the area looked like a war zone. And the true cherry on top of the shit cake was Fred Trump, Donald Trump's father: he destroyed the very last of Steeplechase park. When this newsreel was taken, Coney Island would've had three classic wooden roller coasters: The Tornado, The Thunderbolt, and The Cyclone. Alas, by the time the movie the Warriors was shot, the Tornado got destroyed by fire. The thunderbolt, the original one, can only now be seen in the movie Annie Hall: it stopped operating in 1986. Giuliani illegally tore it down in the 90s. The cyclone is the only one left. It's nearly 100 years old. Go ride it. She's an old girl, she's kind of Choppy, but she is one of a kind.

@@marykatherinegoode2773 No it was mostly health concern honestly would you find it safe to go on a ride where you are on a skinny circle with a car seat belt and have to rely your life on gravity to keep you on the ride? No if these rides were still around today nobody would go to it because it’s a literal death trap besides the crazy daredevils, The only reason they even had riders was because at the time people were struggling and to cope with what was going on they decided to try out their luck which is kind of the only reason why Conley island is still around…

This was a better choice then going into the State Hospital as so many did as they needed care.This was a life they could experience some freedom at being around the same people who understood what they dealt with emotionally and physically and they were friends.The hospital would have treated them as Throw always no one wanted and would receive the littlest of care and treated as animals without feelings.

Today's shows do not resemble, in any way shape or form the meaning and existence of carnivals and circuses in days of yore. These people built communities in these traveling shows; lives.I wouldn't be the one to tell you about this lot in Europe and the carnival music? It is so disfocused from reality-it's eerie, it's dissonant, it's eerily distant, can be haunting and far away, mesmerizing.It is a fascination

Its amazing how they managed to build all this at the time but still did not invent the cell phone or computer yet. Also men have been fooling with tigers forever and today they are still not tamed and will still eat us muhahahahahaha!!!!!!

Most of the time the tigers were aggressive from the people not feeding them for days, it’s so sad.

People are seriously saying 'Poor Tigers'...Oh yeah cause the tigers are really the ones we have to worry about. Never mind the people, seriously, who cares about the tigers?! They get fed, and sheltered, that's all they want. They are animals for crying out loud!

You know what the tigers and the people in this video I feel said for because they were probably the nicest things in the world because they knew what pain was and how to treat people and they probably knew that you must can for ALL LIVING THINGS not just the animals or just the people

But on the other hand this was giving them a job and giving them some self empowerment. The alternative was to shut them away, out of sight and force them to live on the meager amount of money (if any) they got from social assistance. They weren’t slaves forced into this. They said they loved it. It gave them a community of peers that accepted them and they felt good that they were able to be self sufficient. There are always two sides to every coin.
