The British Icon... a classic Mills!!.. British engineering at its best..either a 1.3 or the lovely P 75.. Have also quite e few of them...and yes...so nice!! ..."You cant get wrong with a Mills"...as the advertisement say back then... ;-D Sounds really nice...and yes..I would take the black paint also down....just keep it as it should be..... Keep them smoking Mark! Many best regards from the other side of the lake!

Hi Peter, thank you very much for the comment, it's greatly appreciated. Totally agree, they are such a lovely engine and a real classic. I have removed the paint now, came off quite easily with a bit of acetone and a toothbrush! Looks so much better now, as you say, as it should be.

I have a collection of Mills engines and there is not a bad one amongst them, they are so easy to start and run. back in the day as a teenager you were guaranteed success if you had a Mills.

Yes absolutely, fantastic engines, thanks for the comment 😀

Most Mills engine crankcases were cast in a magnesium alloy called Elektron and chromated to avoid corrosion and it gave that nice nearly black finish
@MarkRobinson5556 күн бұрын
That was certainly true of the Mk 2 Mills, but the Mk 1 was only ever a aluminium machined crankcase, which was not blackened

I have one of those "crack,n engines" but it's a K Mills with a gold head. Came in a red box from an old friend. I've got a Cox 1/2a carb on it and it works really good. A bit messy but I love it.

My peers and I had miniature engines, we would mount them on benches in the yard and test them. I don't know why the adults didn't support our technical interests. Fortunately for these bores, we didn't have a Detroit Diesel straight pipe on hand. 🎧 btw I had a cox medallion .9 & raduga 7M

I have never yet seen a bad Mills. Be it the 1.3 or the .75. I think I would take off the black.
@MarkRobinson5559 күн бұрын
Thanks Terry, yes the black will be coming off, certainly the right choice 😀👍

@MarkRobinson5558 күн бұрын
I don't mix my own diesel, I buy it from my local model shop 😀

Wrong title? I thought is was a Mark 1 Series 2 ?
@MarkRobinson5558 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment, thanks for pointing out my mistake, I had inadvertently put series 1 instead of Mk1 in the title, however, the video is correct. Thanks again, need to put my brain into gear next time! Hahaha

What fuel do you use?
@MarkRobinson5556 күн бұрын
I was running it on Model Technics D1000 diesel fuel, hope that helps

can I run these engines on kerosene?
@PhilipSiddall8 күн бұрын
No.
@Bartass10208 күн бұрын
@@PhilipSiddall so what should I use?
@MarkRobinson5558 күн бұрын
The diesel fuel that these engines run on is made from Kerosene, either and caster oil, they will not run on kerosene alone. There is plenty on line about mixing your one fuel, or it can be bought from model shops if there are any where you live. Hope that helps

How does this video have 15 thumbs down? Is there some kind of bot infection going on?
@MarkRobinson5559 күн бұрын
