I remember the first time I saw a Taplin Twin, it was in the window of Brook's Sports, a toy and model shop in Crawley, Sussex, circa 1962/63. I forget how many times I subsequently pressed my nose against their window 😊

Hey Mark, thanks for your video. Im a fairly new subscriber and have poked around your channel some watching some old balsa builds, glow engine runs, etc. i have started getting real hardcore into glow engines and balsa builds. I know very little diesel engines... I do know its a different kind of diesel fuel and not the traditional diesel fuel you get at the gas station. Seems like a neat engine and runs good! Again, thanks for sharing.

Lovely motor there Mark. Your very lucky to own one. Are you going to give anything away as to what model you are going to put it in? 🤔

Hi Terry, pleased you enjoyed it, thanks for the comment. As I am already working on a couple of build projects, I did think about putting it in my GP Trainer 60, which currently has a Merco 61 in it, and perhaps later down the road building a Red Zephyr 😜

Nice choice especially the Red Zepher.

I’ve never run a diesel. What’s the benefit of running diesel over a glow engine
@Yogenh2 күн бұрын
Oh, and do you have to mix oil into it too?
@Yogenh2 күн бұрын
And as far as diesel fuel, do you use the same diesel fuel that goes into the trucks
@MarkRobinson55523 сағат бұрын
The fuel used in model diesel engines is a special mix of either, caster oil and paraffin. They are great fun to run, sound great, and have more torque than glow engines and a great piece of history. Hope that helps.
