1941 Ford Super Deluxe - Junkyard Find

i bought a 41 super deluxe when i was 22. it was $500 plus the tow. so $565 total from Carnation Washington to Seattle if that dates it.. Really solid project. i saved it from being tubed and then sold it to another guy for $600 because i already had 5 "projects". I believe it went to the right owner who eventually loved it more and showed it in small car meets with his wife. it was an ok stock ride though for the weight, even in the shape yours is in. just a little gas, spark and 6v got mine going. can't wait to see the progress.

Growing up, my dad's car was a 41 Ford. Tudor, I believe. The back window used to fall in. One time on a trip to grandma's house my brother and I had to take turns holding the window in. That was about 1957. Also, My dad painted it with a brush and tractor paint. He said "that's how we did it in the old days. Just like a house every 4 or 5 years give it another coat. Good memories. I remember the floor area in the back seat was enormous.

I cant understand why so many have such a dislike for 4 doors. 4 doors are still cool looking and are alot more convenient for so many things such as passengers or going shopping.PLUS they are usually cheaper to buy and more were built so there are more of them around which makes being able to find one to build a rod easier

Cool idea, a lot of people don't like 4 doors, but I think taking that and making a hot rod your brother's whole family can enjoy is a really cool idea. and another old classic is saved from rotting away in the junkyard. I'd love to see that when it's done.

You need to save the 56 Ford F100 with the tilt frontend and FE engine. It would make a great project. There was a 2nd one missing the front clip that you can use as parts.

I like this four door, hope you show us the whole process of reviving and building it. I couldn’t leave that Olds or tilt front end Ford truck behind. I think you should save them both. The ‘35 Ford truck would be cool too.

i always liked to walk thru a "u-pull junkyard" in my younger years looking at the history there.a nice way of relaxing to me.better than disney. both the cars and interior contents ( sometimes those contents were free or under 5 bucks for the asking )were interesting.junkyards disappearing now due to the nut and berry people claiming eyesore and polluting the groundwater. i always thought they were the first people to advocate recycling. junkyards to me are a way of recycling usable parts at half to a third of new part prices.they are a source of steel scrap for the foundries to recycle when the car is picked clean.

The four door is cool !!!!! Suicide rear doors! I’d rescue the Oldsmobile next and rescue the 56 f100 as well. The ‘56 f100 would look great as a patina/original custom from the 60’s! Plus it must be said -Save everything! (I know, it’s not possible)

The Model T Huckster would be my next choice. You and Mike need to add woodworking to your skill set. Model T’s are a blast to drive! I have been pulling the BB truck motor apart and so far, I like what I see with the head off and not one broken bolt or stud. The pan is next. Then comes stuck pistons, but the bores have only minor rust. Rusty valves, guides and tappets will be the big challenge. I like the taxi suggestion.

matt,where i come from,every single classic vehicle in that yard i would purchase and take home.then i would go over every square yard/metre and search for dropped gold.and their old parts rejects etc.in 40 yrs time,you will have still some of that stuff,and also you would have been responsible for returning numerous great old cars to the road.4drs,coupes,pickups,etc doesnt matter coz it doesnt.you would have bought joy and richness into the lifes of many people who will become the future guardians to this heritage,both present and those yet to be born.this oppurtunity rarely comes to us,so take them all home.id like to come over sometime and help you.ralph

Since I am partial to cars from the fifties, definitely the Olds. Also, I have never understood why so many car guys don't want anything to do with 4 doors and why they are priced so much cheaper. I never say anything cuz I don't want to seem dumb but 4 doors seem just as cool to me

That old Effie with the tilt front would be cool to at least rescue. What I find interesting is the 'glass front is still in one piece. The other one to save is the Olds ( Olds fan here). I think it's great that you are finding these old collections and saving a few of them. You are doing what I wanted to do and maybe should have. Retired now though. Keep it up, love your channel.

Nice deal with your brother. He gets a steet rod and you still get the parts you bought the car for. The tilt front F100 needs to be resurrected. You can tell it was a Kustom from the Galaxie grill. Probably out of my budget to get it to Joliet

Cool future build would be the '56 Ford pick-up. Take out the small block and find a 430 (383, 430,462) Lincoln or Mercury or Edsel and stuff that in. Torque Monster. Lower it to the ground and use it to pull your utility/ex camper trailer. Paint them both gold with red scallops or baby blue with white pinstriping. Crap! Now I'm daydreaming.

Give me half an hour in that yard and i sure i could find something for you and Matt to rebuild. To make some money for the shop a good option would be that red 40s jeep (kaiser willys have everything instock for them, even whole new bodies) and the tilt front pick up, to buy wash and sell. For yourself the 30s ford pickup. Pick ups are always popular. Its a shame that ones been buried in the bog. Take some more pictures around the yard and i can give you more ideas. You are into these old fords and chevs like im into old VWs and Toyotas . I know my taste is impeccable. I'm 58 and a mechanic, years ago when i was 17-18ish, I dumped a 1950 barndoor kombi with the spoke steering wheel and passengers foot rail with a friend. (so it wasn't all my fault) At the time i though it was unsalvageable but now many years on i would have fixed it up. It was very rusty and the engine was broken, so basicly had no value at the time and my parents didn't want it in the yard. Its a wonder the vw gods in the sky haven't struck me down with a bolt of lightening. Matt keep dragging them in as they aren't making them any more.
