This is a pre Acushnet John Reuter Jr. Bullseye putter. Made a brass and simply a classic. It was a pleasure to have this in front of the camera for you. This later became the Titleist Bullseye putter.
The footage on the practice green was filmed last year (2019)

I love my Bullseye Standard Flange with leather grip. I've had since it was new and that was 30 some years ago. It's never leaving my bag. It and I have a relationship. When I miss a putt it tells me why and when I make a putt it tells me why. What more can one ask of putter. Oh, and it didn't cost anywhere what a putter costs these days. :-)

I still occasionally play a round with my Bullseye putter and am always amazed that it’s every bit as good as any of the higher-tech putters I own. You just step up and tap the ball. No fuss, no muss. Plus, it’s so fun outputting guys struggling with their latest, greatest contraptions.

I like the brass putters. I have a Diamond Head barrel putter form the 70's. When at a company golf tournament we had a putting contest and the crowd was looking at my putter like it was from outer space, there was one guy took a picture of it to search what it was all about. I do love the old vintage putters. Thank you.

It is an excellent putter. I have 2 of them. One is circa 1965 model with Reuter's name and Acushnet and Bullseye on it. Putted with it and a pre-1940's Tommy Armour Silver Scot model Iron Master's 3852s. The post 1940 models were called Iron Master (no apostrophe s). Never tried a mallet head putter in my competitive days but recently acquired an Otey Chrisman mallet head. Otey's were arguably more popular than Bullseye in the 50's by the players but they cost in the mid 60's $25 while a Bullseye was $15. In my opinion, the Otey with the hickory shaft is the best putter for feel that I've ever stoked.

Can't miss with it and when I do I can feel it right away! much better then any other putter I have! Love the weight, feel and balance! Glad I watched your video on this fine old putter! Interesting that there is such a buzz around LAB putters just now when this did it 50 years back! I have the Slazenger Eaglet circa 1964 which has to be a licensed copy. Put a John Daly Kangaroo-hide grip on it and still use it on the links in summer!

I've gamed a Bullseye for the past 20 years. I currently have a Wilson Augusta in the bag, as well as a vintage Acushnet Bullseye with an aluminum shaft. I love 'em and attribute using them to why I'm such a good putter. No gimmicks, just feel.

I have just recently started looking for and collecting vintage putters. Your channel has shed light on many questions that I have. I have just acquired a Flanged Bullseye with an offset and a perfect Satin Flair Tip shaft with all silk screening and length decal present. It was re gripped at some point. I believe 1967 was the year of release for this variant. This one I have dated at 1967 to 74 as it does not have Titleist stamped on it. Only Acushnet and John Reuter design. Fantastic feeling putter, very soft. It is not as difficult to use as some folks may believe.

Now your talking! Love love love this putter. I've had the Acushnet version sold it and bought the Dynacraft copy of this style putter. Like the Dynacraft version better it just had a sweeter feel to me. It feels heavier that's why I like it. Still use the putter so easy to lag not the best for shorter putts. Just doesn't line up like the modern mallets. That being said I'd rather miss a putt or two with this than use one of these hideous new mallets. Keep up the good work Mr Vintage Golfer.

One thing that's underappreciated about the Bullseye is that it's very easy to line up. Also, you get excellent feedback on your stroke with them. I think there's still a place for them in the modern game.

Is that not a Bulls Eye stamping to the right of the model stampings? It may not say Bulls Eye but it certainly looks like the image itself. These remain timeless gems. Recently found a pristine '57 - '60 Wide Blade model, satin finish fluted shaft, original cord grip. These still play beautifully, even in this age of technological advances.

I believe DF is Deep Face (note how tall the face is). 5 is for 35 inches long. S is the standard grip vs the paddle grip. (Johnny Miller's Bullseye he won so many tournament with had a paddle grip if I recall.) And M is for Medium lie. Very nice putter made before Acushnet (Titleist) purchased them. Best putter ever made.

I played with half a dozen different versions of these things. Light blade, heavy blade, standard, flanged, offset... they even made a heal shafted flanged version shaped like that iron master. At $30 or $40 new, they were easy to collect.

I got a bullseye... or 7. Literally 7. I got one from pre-1957 era all the way up to the (probably) 1994 Titleist Scotty Cameron Bullseye. I also have one that might be from exactly 1957, which I believe is the year Acushnet entered the partner ship with them (still says Patent Pending and Acushnet, but doesn't have the trademark symbols or the putter outline from that era; it's kinda weird).

Pretty rare pre-Acushnet Bulls Eye putter, but unfortunately the shaft has been replaced. The fluted area gives it away. The flutes on these early pre-Acushnet Bulls Eyes, had longer and more pointed tips.

I have an Acushnet Bulls Eye Original that I recently found hibernating in my closet for decades. Took it out to putt around the house with it and it really is solid and more forgiving than its looks. Going to take it out to the course. In addition to Miller & Kite winning US Opens with it, so did Corey Pavin.

What year would you estimate a Bullseye putter to be if on the bottom it has: Pat Pending, then under that is John Reuter Jr. and the bulls Eye symbol has nothing stamped in the center? It also has a fluted shaft and a leather grip that is perforated.

I had lost the right feel with my wonderful Cameron putter when the local greens were worked on and became very fast. So I returned to my old Bullseye and was pleasantly surprised to fond that it was better to putt with than the modern one, at least for me under the present conditions. Who knew?

I picked up an Acushnet Bullseye putter last September, and have gamed it ever since. It is without a doubt the best putter I have ever used. Easy to aim, strokes straight back and straight through, is deadly and feels fantastic. It's my forever putter, and I'll be buried with it when my time comes. Get one for yourself!

have both the "pat. pending" pre Acushnet and the "pat w/number" pre Acushnet....we can agree to disagree about the best classic putter, it would be hard to rate such putters a Babe Didrickerson putter or Walter Hagen's Tom Boy or copy of Bobby Jones Calamity Jane....I would put any of them above the Reuter/Acushnet....or even ( LOL ) the Ping Doc 17....but my go to putter is a 1958 H&B Grand Slam Mars 70 putter, my first ever putter. fun video

Wow thats incredible! Pat Pend pre achushnet. I have a pretty nice bullseye collection, but do not have a pre achushnet one. The brass is so soft in these putters, as you know many of them are severely bag chattered. Just gives them chatacter. The feel of these is amazing! Once you find the sweet spot. I have had an Acushnet bulls eye blade putter in my bag since 1975. It has an aluminium shaft, which dates it to the late 1960's. It is an amazing putter. It sits square to the line, and the flat of the grip is square to the line of the face. It is relatively light, which is perfect for the lightning greens of the Melbourne "sand belt" courses. I had 29 puts in a round of 69 net on Wednesday, so the puts are still dropping...
