Was in the CAANG ( 1982-1990) crew chief of 130E 64-1799 from 1986-1990, we moved to Mugu in 1988. Flying out of Van Nuys was a lot of fun. Had a lot of trips to Europe and South America, good memories. Also flew a C-150 lease back out of Van Nuys and a C-177 Cardinal fixed gear 180 hp Santa Monica in the mid 1970's to 1982. Not as busy back then.

Max! I can't believe you're into the vintage aircraft! By now, I thought you'd be into something like a Glass Air.... All joking aside, that was a beautiful landing!! Let me know if you ever get over to Tucson.

Really enjoyed this one too. I love the sound of your engine, it comes out well in this video.

Thanks! It has a wonderful rumble too it. I've been training in a 1940 J3 Cub recently and it has the exact same engine, although that one is a little more rattley sounding.

There is a reason these things were called air knockers! I have fond memories way back when I had an 11 AC. Great little plane.

That was awesome! Looks like quite the different experience from the Cherokee/Warrior series and C172s. I find it interesting how back when the Chief was made, people were mostly fine with that sort of horsepower. Now some people think those are way under powered, yet many manufacturers overseas are making aircraft with similar power but modern materials that perform truly impressively. Thanks for the video!

Don’t let your feet go to sleep. Use the rudder on the ground and when climbing out to stay on the centerline..

Stupid question. Is it like old vw style heat channel off the block or does it have a liquid heat system
@keithsmith9889 Жыл бұрын
Or is it just no heating tried looking up specs but other then like the kind of wood used internally not much info available
@HeavyMetalHorizons Жыл бұрын
Yeah similar to a VW. No heater core or anything like that because it's an aircooled engine.
