I have the non-ultra version and haven't really touched it yet. It's network analyzer cousin and predecessor the NanoVNA I have, however, and I absolutely love being able to set the SWR on my antennas closer to the antenna and not having to deal with trying to key up the radio and verify I'm in range. I have full faith my tinySA will preform as intended, but now I'm kinda sad I didn't get the Ultra, just for the bigger screen if nothing else.

Seems like a good little radio. I would still spring a bit extra for a Yaesu low end model, and have this as a back up. The USB charging is definitely something I wish larger manufacturers would get onboard with. It's got a nice set of features for like $50 though. I'll add it to my list of possible future grabs.

Awesome video! Found your channel because of your ham radio one. Congrats on taking a paragliding tandem. When you get a chance it would be awsome to see you do a hang gliding tandem flight/video. You can either do a foot launch or an aerotow variety. You described the feeling as different like being a bird or something...that is the way I feel as a hang glider pilot. I'm a private pilot also so I have that as a comparison point, flying a plane is more like a complex car. Flying a glider is like a bird or perhaps freeing like riding motorcycles:)

Great video! Very easy to watch and learn from your explanations of your setup. I'm just working on getting my ham license now. Do you fly hang gliders? That is why I'm pursuing it, for pilot to pilot in air communications plus ground crew retrievals for cross country flying. Cool that you are into airplanes as well. I started there and became a private pilot then found hang gliding later and it is very addictive! Thanks for making a great video!

Thanks! I fly paragliders. Honestly, the paraglider pilots that I know use ham radios and they don't have licenses. Technically it's illegal, but it doesn't seem like anyone cares. But of course if you want to get into the amateur radio / ham world, then I'd encourage you to get the license.

@HeavyMetalHorizons Cool, I didn't realize you were a paraglider pilot already. Did you ever run into this guy out flying? Pretty cool video of him getting the thermal flight in that gave him enough time to go from H2 to H3 in hang gliding. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqGQnWp6i9adkJYsi=sEROMLrxXUUHmuMd

Just got here on my first 2 stop cross country and I will say it’s super sketchy in the most awesome way. Tailwind, ridge super close and 2 trees near the runway that’s already a pretty short one. Most badass place I’ve landed loved every second

That’s the spirit! I love that airport. Flabob, right by Riverside is another fun one, and once you get really comfortable, Agua Dulce.

I miss those. One thing you can do with those old phones, that you can't with cell-phones, is slam the handset down hard to hang up. And that big chunk of heavy hardware raises your Desk-Fu to Boss level.

top video and a great radio. be aware those cables carry an older clone chip that only works on Windows 10 (or earlier), for Windows 11 look for a cable utilising the FTDI chip.

That airport was there LONG BEFORE any of those "Karens" and others moved in. You buy a house off the end of the runway, and then complain about airplanes. So flipping typical of a certain type of people. Brain dead is all I can say!! The developers want it worse than anyone I'm sure. That is such a historic airport. It's really sad!

If long range and local contact that are as good or better than HF and eliminates worrying with antennas in restricted areas plus is cheaper than a good HF radio go DMR. 73 K0LC
