1946 Pontiac Streamliner
Ordered prior to world war ll by Eli Wasserburger, owner of Wasserburger Pontiac for his wife, Delores. The car was produced after the war in Pontiac Michigan and delivered to Wasserburger Pontiac in Crawford, Nebraska. Driven by Delores until 1992 when Eli passed away and the dealership was sold. Stored in the dealership garage from 1992 to 1996 when it was given to Delores’s granddaughter who had learned to drive in it.
239 Cubic inch engine - 3 speed on the tree

I love the late '30's to early '50's cars the best. They were so solid with tons of small deco details that just make you smile. Yes, cars are more efficient and practical today, but, in the end, would anyone say their greatest joys in life were their efficiency and practicality?

So true. I love the high technology cars from today and look forward to all the new gadgets, but it’s amazing how well these cars were built 75 years ago. Thanks for the input.

Mark, You have a truly beautiful car in your possession, a real post-war car. The lines are streamlined and paint is beautiful. Thank you for a nice quiet video, without non-stop chatter or loud music. The car speaks for itself and the attention you’ve given it.

@@dad0dads .......Mark..Would this car still be considered a 1946 model Pontiac, even though ordered in 42..I know for the most part the 1946 produced cars were basically prewar styled cars with maybe slight adjustments....Also a great backstory you relate about this car thanks...
@dad0dads
@dad0dads 3 жыл бұрын
@@daniellack3559 my understanding is that most of the parts were stored during the war and put together after the war. It is a 1946. There was definitely newer technology available in the following years though. The repair manual is basically the same for 1942 through 1947.

I'm an old car buff. I guess I have a grand memory partly due to my age. I will say somewhere between 70 & 80. I want say somewhere between 40 & death. LOL (40 & death - Song Bosom Buddies) I knew Pontiac was the last of GM's cars to have a V8. Then I remembered they had the straight 8 till 1955 I think. GM did crazy things. The car is beautiful and I love it. Read thru most of the comments.

Why did those old cars have such tall radiators and air filters??
@dad0dads

Pontiac was a sub brand of GM. Chevy is GM's “big” nameplate brand. Therefore, many of the sub-brand cars are rebrands/reskins of other vehicles. There’s no Chevy like my ‘67 GTO but I do get your point

That radiator is not mounted high - it really is a tall radiator - look at other cars of the era and that is what you will see. As the hood line of cars became lower, then radiators became wider and shorter.
