Thank you! I recently got a similar model from 1927 and got two of these feet with it. I'll admit, they scared me at first! So hard to find information on them... Edit: Just found 2 more in a separate pile

Thank you! I have an attachment just like yours. The single adjusting screw. Found it a few days ago & am in the process of cleaning it up and learning how to use it. BTW, stopped in the middle of the video to also find my copy of the 1969 Singer Sewing Book. :-) I'm sure I bought it when I bought a Singer Stylist 457 in May of 1970 (receipt with the user manual). Hoping this one will work with the 457. A new one, at today's prices is $38. Again, thank you. Good to see how it is supposed to function. Good caution about using scrap fabric to test, as rust and oil both can stain.

Hi Laurie, Please believe me when I tell you that I'm not trying to be a pest😉 But...I have what I think is the same ruffler, other than the fact that it is a back clamp. On these rufflers, there is a second adjustment, not just the screw. If yours has it, there is a thumb/finger tab on the back, lower, right that allows you to move the piece with the tab into two possible positions, where each position is locked into place by a small black tension spring that clicks into rectangular holes on the ruffler. I haven't figured out what this adjusts yet, but it must do something. I think it has to do with it ruffling on every stitch or ruffling on some specific number of stitches, like every 5th stitch. It's an interesting gadget and I'll let you know if I figure it out. Have a GREAT Day!

bill orourke Hi Bill- I believe I have seen that on the back. I have two or more different rufflers. I will have to get them out and look at them again. I am sure anyone seeing these videos appreciates your comments. Thank you.

Laurie O'Meara i did figure it out last night.....I was right!! This is the coolest gadget! If the thumb tab has the thing in the low position, you get a ruffle on every stitch.....if it is in the upper position, the toothed wheel causes it to make a ruffle every five stitches. The ingenuity on these things is incredible! Fun to play with! Have a GREAT day!!

I think it’s great that it gathers a ruffle in one simple step, saving time, instead of having to sew two gathering stitches and then drawing them up to fit. However, at least you CAN draw them up to fit what you are attaching the ruffle to, when you make the two gathering stitches. How (if you are using a pattern with pre-cut pieces), do you get the ruffle that is gathered on a ruffler to be able to adjust it to fit your dress/garment pattern? If this is not possible, then I guess buying a ruffler is not for me.

If I am reading your question correctly, I think in the past the ruffle would be created directly on the larger item, but I will have to think about this. I haven't made a separate ruffle and then attached it in a while.

Thank you for this video! This foot is so intimidating looking. I’m having an issue with mine skipping tucks. Do you know what I would have to do to fix that?

Hi- the only thing I can think to check is the little adjustment knob (on some) or screw. If I have a chance I will get one out and look at it again. Will let you know.

Can this be used to gather/ruffle 2 layers of fabric?
@LaurieOMeara
@LaurieOMeara 4 жыл бұрын
Probably two thin layers like muslin- I will have to think about whether or not it can- I think only one layer at a time can be guided through it. If I get the chance, I will get one out and check, but now that I am picturing it in my mind, I think only one layer at a time can be ruffled.

The manual talks about putting piping on ruffles, putting a facing on ruffles, but not ruffling two layers at once. Here is one of the pages that a Singer manual has on rufflers- www.manualslib.com/manual/1508009/Singer-66-1.html?page=13#manual There should be something similar in the manual for your machine if you have one.
