Although I did recognize that picture of the concept Studebaker and also knew of Virgil from the 50s Mopars I wasn't aware of his earlier work or that he did that Stude. Really cool project!

This is SUPER COOL! I love looking at concept vehicles and trying to see how they could be built today because those cars were always mor3 cool than production. Making dreams come true at Pro Shaper! Waiting for the update on the Trans Am.

We have completely different styles of shaping. I am not a tradionalist at all, any chance I get to innovate I take that road. I teach a super simple less tool method, that yields results with absolute beginners like they have been professionals for years. I get ignored by a lot of the professional shapers.

That's going to be so cool. I love the designs from the Loewy run studio at Studebaker. It also reminds me of some of Alex Tremulus's Tucker concepts and also Buehrig's Tasco designs. Post war aero influences before rockets took over.
@proshaper Жыл бұрын
Lowery, just took credit for what Virgil and the other Studebaker designers had created....
@eeblatter Жыл бұрын
@@proshaper Yes, just like most design chiefs. It is the design chief that sells the design to management. The 53 Studebaker known originally as the Loewy coupe is now commonly known as the Bob Burke coupe. Exner gets the credit for all the Chrysler Forward look cars and I'm sure there were others slaving away. It's rare that the actual designers actually get credit and many are team efforts.

I liked Exner's Norseman. At least we know that one could steer the front wheels. I guess in the future, people drive in a straight line.

It is all corrected. The drawing was probably done very quickly as a concept, not an engineering drawing.

Hey Wray, make the front fenders turn w/ the wheels. I used Autodesk 123D Make to do slice station for a 356 Speedster wire frame buck. I just started on it for the fun of it beginning w/ wheelwell openings. A dude shared his awesome 3D file to work from.
@BeatenRustBuckets Жыл бұрын
Didn't they try that on the original Tucker design but found at speed it would make the car unstable as the air would throw the car all over the place when turning ?
@butziporsche8646 Жыл бұрын
@@BeatenRustBuckets I think the only thing that turned with the wheels was the center headlight but I don't know about any prototypes. Interesting question. However, the fenders will need to be widened substantially to accommodate steering. Look at the pontoon front fenders on a Lotus 11 as an example.
@proshaper Жыл бұрын
In Virgil's drawing the front fenders are fixed, I corrected that, they do turn with the wheels.
@BeatenRustBuckets Жыл бұрын
@@butziporsche8646 You are correct, I was speaking of the early development of the Tucker not production. Good point on the Lotus, that all being said its not like this will be going over 75 so perhaps my original point is moot.
