In this video we show off a few cool original features of a 1949 Buick Super Series 50 that we had the privilege to work on and help keep on the road.

I own the same model, it's a great car, very smooth and comfortable. The dynaflow is quite novel when people start wondering when the automatic will finally shift, which it doesn't. The starter is askari quite novel, the guy who delivered it wasn't able to start it up. Thanks for this video, very well made, friendly down to earth fella.

My dad owned a 1949 Buick 4 door Super . He traded it in for a new 1954 Packard Clipper Deluxe .

My first car when I was sixteen was a 1949 Buick Roadmaster with Dynaflow. And that Roadmaster rode as good as any car on the road today!

Had to ride better. Today's cars ride like trucks.

Beautiful car. I love the originality in this one. To me, vintage cars like this should stay original. However, if a vintage car goes through restoration, it should be restored back to the way it was when it was brand new.

As a teenager I owned one of these as a hand me down. My only complaint was that the Dynaflo was very slow.

When I wanted to really move out, I would put it in Lo. It will take off like a scalded cat. But you should lift off the gas when shifting back into Drive, or else you will eventually wear out the Direct clutch.

0- 60 in about 5 minutes. But after 60 not much going to pass you. 😂

I used to laugh when parking lot attendants couldn't figure out how to start my Buicks.

Not to be negative, but I don’t think the seat covering is original to this car. But you are correct that it’s a couch. Very comfy.

I was wondering if you still have the 49 buick...restoration one for client..and was trying to piece this hood assembly together and was wondering about obtaining pics of mechanism,cable mounting locations on fender and pulley, female striker area on hood where it meets the latch.thanks in advance

Unfortunately, no. This was a customer car, and they're out enjoying it.

I would love to see this as EV, but that's maybe just me.

The straight eight engine is amazingly smooth, but it's definitely old. I think most older luxury cars would make great EV conversions.

It's not a Super, it's a Special. The Special in '49 used the '48 body for a short run and introduced the all new car for 1950
@michaelbenardo5695 Жыл бұрын
No, this is a Super. Buick didn't get this body in 48 because Harlow Curtis had a nightmare where the 48 Buick did get this, but with a less aggressive front end. Everybody in his dream thought it looked like a Chrysler Airflow, and it bombed badly, so the 48 Super and Roadmaster wound up using the 46 - 47 body for one more year, the Special used its B body for 2 more years. The 50 Special was all new, but came out mid year 49, before the rest of the 1950 Buicks.
@michaelbenardo5695 Жыл бұрын
You called this a Special. It is not, it is a Super. The Special was a smaller B body car. This, like the Roadmaster and Cadillacs, is a C body car.
