I have been trying to find out for several years who the lovely singer was on the "Hawaii Sang Me To Sleep" film clip [at the end of this video], in which the soundtrack seems wholly - certainly partially, to have been dubbed. The [unknown] singer/dancer as shown does seem to be miming and Sol Hoopii's Hawaiian Guitar is an acoustic instrument in the film, but obviously electric on the soundtrack. The earlier portion which features Constance Moore singing "My Loneliness Has Ended" proves to me that she is also the singer in "Hawaii Sang Me To Sleep", by her wonderful intonation, etc which is clearly heard in both songs, but why isn't she seen to be the singer here, I wonder? What a fine singer she was, yet as far as I know there are no commercial record releases under her name. What a pity the whole of the "Hawaiian Nights" [1939] film cannot be resurrected. Surely a complete copy exists somewhere which can be uploaded onto You Tube?

Musical highlights of 1939's "Hawaiian Nights". This was featured in Castle's catalogs through 1959.

Yes, most movie studios had an idea of how "Hawaii" should be visualized in the 1930's. Most of it was "the bunk". You hardly saw ANY tap dancing hula dancers there {except in a night club}.
